So how do you know which products to choose?

This is where your affiliate tools come in.  This is where targeted product research comes in.  This is also where SEO and keyword research starts to come into the picture, but the details of each of those will come in their due time, in their own, dedicated chapters.


Spotting the sellers

What you need to do to spot a moneymaker is find out what is selling and what is not.  Go to affiliate sites like Click Bank and Commission Junction.  Utilize the marketplace tools there and find out what products are performing-which products other affiliates are making money with.  Start there, but go further.  Consider the whole picture before you decide on the right affiliate products for you.

Go to these sites, and look at the market reports.  Don't just start with a top keyword search; find out what is selling-not just what is getting traffic hits.  Compare products in your chosen category against each other.  See which products are outperforming the others, and then go from there.  Build your website and your affiliate program around that product.  Then use your keyword analysis in the most productive way (as we'll show you).

Here's the trick, though.  You don't want to just grab the first products you see with the highest traffic generations.  Traffic in and of itself means very little.  You want the products that are actually converting-that are turning into sales.  So even if a products gets thousands of hits a day, but only a couple of those hits convert to purchases, it is probably not the product that will generate the kind of easy, hands-off sales you want.  A product with only a hundred (or fewer) hits per day that converts at a much higher rate would actually do much better.  It's the conversion and sales that you need to know, not just the traffic generated by searches.


What sells and what doesn't

Sometimes these statistics are things that you can find through the marketplace tools on affiliate lead sites.  Not always, though, and some sites are better at it than others, so you need to look at the proven factors that are more likely to result in sales.  The trick to this is really in knowing a bit about the psychology of buyers, and then using that to guide your efforts at SEO and marketing (but more on that later…).

First off understand that there are basically only two types of buyers of interest to you; they are

"    Buyers who are researching products, and
"    Buyers who need a product (or feel they need a product) because they need a solution to a problem (or think buying solves a problem-sometimes the problem is simple want)

Are there other types of traffic-generators out there?  Sure.  But most of them are not buyers who are ready or nearly ready to buy.  So that kind of traffic is essentially fluff.  It looks good on your site meter, but it doesn't make you money.  So it's not worth your time and effort.

This is where keyword research really comes into play.  Effective keyword research will target those buyers ready to buy, rather than those just looking around.  We'll break that down in later chapters.

It may seem as though we've gotten a bit away from the issue of niche selection.  Really, though, it's all intertwined.  To choose your niche-since you're not choosing on interest alone-you will need to know how to choose the niches that can perform.  You need to know how to spot the moneymakers, using your market tools.  

Now that you know your niche, we can start setting up your business.  We can go on to formulating a game plan and carving out your piece of the market action.

 Working From Home as an Affiliate Marketer

The ultimate goal of most working Americans is the ability to quit the daily grind and devote their energy and time to owning, operating, and maintaining a successful home based business. While working from home is a much coveted goal, getting there is a bit more challenging. At the root of these challenges lies an inability to find the one niche that will make money, be enjoyable, and offer a modicum of respectable upward trend. In the past it was thought that affiliate marketing was the way to go but in the recent wake of the multi level marketing explosion this idea has gone somewhat by the wayside.

The foregoing might have dissuaded a good number of would-be affiliate marketers but those who are beyond merely dabbling in the business and who have solid understanding of the market and its changes find that working from home as an affiliate marketer is the kind of business that has a future as well as a past. Here are some reasons why they hold firm to the belief that this somewhat neglected mode of making money has gotten a bad reputation:

1. The idea of getting rich quick has hurt the individual who is seeking a bona fide opportunity to work from home. There is no such thing as a free lunch and getting rich overnight is not possible. Instead, those in the know claim that working from home as an affiliate marketer and devoting at least four to five uninterrupted hours daily to growing and tweaking the affiliate network will lead to appreciable payouts.

2. Less can be more in the affiliate business and while the trend in the past went toward warning away newbies from signing up with companies that sold goods for which most likely there would be no repeat customers, this is a fallacy and the truly savvy will seek out these kinds of programs. High payouts coupled with five or more daily hours of growing the business have the potential of making you a good bit of money in your home business.

3. Considering the pre-built website versus the from scratch version may make little difference to someone who is not actually one of those computer fiends that in the past were not so affectionally referred to as nerds or geeks, but to the savvy affiliate marketer there is a good reason to opt for the from scratch version: it will be markedly different than the competition. The pre-built sites are a great marketing tool for those affiliate programs that are hurting for members and are looking for a large number of individuals to sign on quickly and therefore seek to sweeten the deal with a pre-built template website that already includes all of the marketing tools. While it is true that this will speed along the process and let you get in the game quicker and easier, it will not separate you from the competition and if you and a rival affiliate marketer have a similar clientele, you will find yourself losing sales and visitors simply because the other individual might have a higher search engine ranking.

One of the absolute most prolific pieces of advice for prospective affiliates is to work within their passions-to find their niche market in an area of personal interest and stay with it.  While there is a place for niche marketing in affiliate marketing, it is not what you have been led to believe that it is.  For sure, "work within your personal niche" is one of the worst pieces of advice given to new entrepreneurs, and the cause of multitudes of affiliate failures.

Do what interests you

Do what interests you; find your niche; do what you are passionate about; sell the products that interest you the most…

These are the pieces of advice that entrepreneurs are told time and again.  And there is some basis to this thought, some method behind this madness.

The overall belief is that if you choose to do business in an area or 'niche' that you are deeply interested in, that passion will shine through and you will make sales almost accidentally.  The feeling is that by selling products or working within your most favorite niche you will have a built-in sense of urgency and desire that will compel you to work on your business and to succeed.

Moreover, by working within a niche category of personal interest you will come prepared.  That is, you will come armed with bucket loads of knowledge and experiences with various products so that you don't have to 'waste time' getting up to speed.  You'll already know the products that deserve promotion.  And you'll know all the promotional background information almost off the top of your head.

The belief is that if you focus on promoting products that are in some way of interest to you, you can easily take care of business.  You can construct websites that will sell the products; you can write articles to submit to directories and gain links back to you, the niche expert; you can build blog upon blog and never run out of something great to say about your favorite little widget that so transformed your life as a widget collector (whether you should or not, is another matter, and we'll discuss that later).

Here's the thing about this-none of it is untrue.  It is easier to put yourself behind a product you already know.  It is easier to hit the ground running when you are already well-versed in matters.  It is easier to connect with visitors and readers who are more like you.  So why, then, is it a myth to believe that you should focus first and foremost on your personal-interest niche as an affiliate marketers?  Why can't that mean virtually automatic sales and commissions?

What's wrong with passion?

The reasoning against personal niche concentration is more simplistic than you might think.  And in point of fact, there are some exceptions to the rule, which we can touch upon after you understand why the myth in general is a myth.

Then cut to the chase already, right?  What's wrong with doing something you are passionate about?

There is nothing truly wrong with it.  But there is something unprofitable about it in an overwhelmingly large percentage of cases.  What is unprofitable about this mindset is that it is just too limiting. By choosing your business and products based on one personal preference, you lose the freedom of choice.  And that freedom is important, because it is what allows you to give buyers what they want, and saddles you with a limited number of affiliate product options, most of the time in a niche that isn't seeing very high demand.

Very simply, unless your niche interest happens to be in products or subject areas that coincide with what people are ready to buy, it does not come with the most essential element of affiliate marketing success-built-in customers.

What you most need to know, then, is how to build that small-niche affiliate website .

The purpose of this website is to develop a very consumer-specific website that provides information and resources for the person who is looking to buy a product of this type.  That's from the buyer's perspective. 

But you have search engines to please, too, so that content will need to do double-duty and also help you be found and ranked well for your target keywords and target audience.

There are two basic components to these small sites.  Those are

1. Articles and buyer-centric information
2. Products

The pages of your website will be split amongst these two components.  It probably should not be a straight 50/50 split.  The division should be weighted more in favor of information than products.  This will serve two purposes:

1. Information gives the buyer all the supporting information and details they need to decide to buy.
2. Information provides more feed for search engines so that buyers can find you.

However you decide to structure the actual website, it should have a simple division-information and products.

The product pages are simple.  Create a page for each individual product that gives the specifics on the product (often the information provided by the affiliate).  You need to give enough detail without overdoing it.  Set up the product pages so that when the visitor performs the desired action-clicks a 'buy' button, or opts for a free sample or service-they are taken to the affiliate website, where they [hopefully] will order and purchase your product.

The informational pages require a little bit more work, but not too much.  Each of these pages should host one piece of supporting information which helps your visitor decide to buy.  It should be an article, product review, or product comparison.  As you'll learn later, these are the things that will really draw the very specific and targeted ready to buy consumers that you want.  This is the information that they are looking for just prior to purchase, and so it is the information that is most likely to net serious buyers, and not just curious visitors.

Back to our example, if we have five muscle-building supplements, we'll have five pages of products and perhaps ten pages with articles and comparisons.  Use the articles to address the concerns of people in the market for supplements, and include topics important to them.  They might be side-by side comparisons, reviews of specific powders, or topics such as "Five Tips for Building More Muscle."

Now you've given your already needy buyers the two things they need to decide to buy your products-additional information, and the place to make the purchase.

Instead of focusing on the niche products, you need to focus on the products that can and do sell.  At least if you want to be one of the Big Dogs in internet marketing you do.  If you want to make the big commission checks and the easy, sell-themselves-while-I'm-in-the-tropics kind of sales the Big Dogs do, you have to think less about what you want to talk about and more about what customers want to hear. 

The other factor you must consider is sustainability.  When you do choose a niche, choose one with staying power.  Choose one that can be recycled over and over-that will continue to elicit demand again and again.  That will lend itself to up-selling with other products and/or upgrades.  And while you do that, focus on how you sell, not only what you sell, so that you can re-use what you learn.  That way, you can continue to be a Big Dog affiliate success well into the future (say, to retirement?) even as products and affiliate programs come and go.

If by now you are concerned and thinking, "Great.  Now I just don't know what to sell, and I thought I had it all figured out…" don't worry.  This book is here to re-train you and teach you to sell and make easy money the way the Big Dogs do.  Not the way the people making trickles and dabs of affiliate money do, the way the people living off affiliate commissions do.  And to that end, we will certainly clarify for you how to identify the products that will sell.  In fact, we'll do that shortly.  But first, let's take away another fear.

But I'm no expert
Okay, so now that we've dismissed the thought of selling niche products that you like, and taken away your automatic level of comfort with your product, we need to talk about how to correct that problem for you, yes?

It is a lot easier to sell something you know and love, surely.  It is easier-at least in the beginning-to build marketing and pre-sales around a product you have an interest in; meaning, if you are already an expert in "widgetta obscura" you could probably sit down and in one afternoon draft a complete website full of content on the matter.  And if you choose another product, say an in-demand high seller that you know next to nothing about, you'll have to do some research before you can belt out that content.  You'll have to become an expert all over again.

There. You've just been given the answer.  Did you see it?  Become an expert.  Just as you were not born an expert in widgets, just as you became an expert through study and use, you can do the same thing for any product that with excellent consumer demand. 

All that it takes to become an expert is some time spent reading, and eventually using your products.  You can become an authority.  You can become whatever type of expert you want to be.  And trust us when we say that you want to be the expert who knows the products with ready-to-buy consumers.

That being said, there is something more to consider-you don't really need to be an expert to be an effective affiliate!  By default it is quite likely you'll become one over time, but in the meantime all you need to do is let

The obvious choice would be to put your effort into your website and content.  You can achieve the same results by simply refreshing the content of your website.  You can add to its archives and additional resources sections (without muddying the primary pages we established before), and still give current information and additional value to your customers and to the search engines.

Not only can you add additional content, but you can test and tweak and change the content you have and test it against past versions.  As you'll learn, even very small, seemingly insignificant changes can really make a big difference to traffic and conversions.  Spend the time you would spend posting on a blog to look for ways that you can tweak or enhance your website.

And don't forget-you've got that master site to build.  Instead of devoting time to a minimal-return blog, why not get started on your big catch-all so that you can dominate your niche traffic?

Articles, Articles and More Articles

All the articles you write, or hire out to a freelance writer to have written, do not need to be posted on your website.  In fact, they shouldn't be.  Use those primary articles and tutorials on your site, add some new stuff now and again to keep everyone happy, and then submit to article directories.  Utilize profile and link capabilities to link back to your website, the authority on Widgets.  (You might know this method by other popular names, like "Bum Marketing" or "Article Marketing.")

Subscriber Lists and Mailings

This is something you need to take some care with.  Subscriber lists are not recommended for all types of products; leastwise, building your list through squeeze pages isn't recommended for everyone.  For many sites, the presence of a squeeze page between the website and merchant offer will only turn the visitor of, and send them packing to the next, less demanding provider.

Still, there are ways to make subscriber lists work.  If your product lends itself to this type of sales, then spend time crafting great emails and marketing campaigns instead.

Social Marketing

Social marketing is what is driving web 2.0.  Instead of spending your time on a new blog people may or may not eventually find, spend it on the blogs of others who've already captured your audience.  Become a contributing member of the community, make some friends, and use your wit and wisdom to get people to click on your name, link, or profile and visit your website.  Do the same by creating pages on social websites like Squidoo and MySpace; frequent forums and other places where potential buyers may gather.

By engaging in social marketing, you're bringing your products to the masses, rather than waiting for them to find you.  It's a much more active approach, and one that can be tailored to offer that all-important focus your affiliate plan needs.  Not only that, but it's a lot more fun than talking to yourself on your blog, too, and you won't have to worry about maintaining it when you're off on vacation enjoying all that Big Dog affiliate cash!

It's a simple, very logical concept-if you can make big money as an affiliate, how big could your revenue stream be if you were the producer of the product instead?

You know that as an affiliate you make x percent of each product sold.  Let's say you're earning a commission of say 50%.  That means that you are not making 50% of the revenue generated from that sale.  Someone is making just as much as much as you are!  Now yes, we'll give you this one point-that someone is also paying the expenses of development and production and other overhead, but you can bet they've set their price at well above expenses!

To be clear, we are not recommending that you endeavor to create your own products rather than become an affiliate.  What we are recommending is that after you have established your business as an effective internet marketer, that you then leverage your influence to promote products of your own and cash in by netting the biggest part of your sales.  Let's talk a bit about how this can be done. 

Those affiliate product producers or developers you have been selling for may well be affiliate big dogs themselves.  It that is the case, and your sales have been substantial for them, they will most likely be open to the idea of a joint venture or becoming an affiliate reseller of yours.

The Back-End Sales Effect

What Might You Sell?

It is worth noting, too, while we have this conversation, that you can harness the power of back-end (as in dedicated, trusting, return buyers) sales with other affiliate products as well.  For instance, supposing you decide that being a product developer is just not for you, you can group and up sell complimentary products. 

Likewise, you can also reverse the strategy a bit so that you are first selling your product-an eBook or something similarly easy to create-and then up-sell an affiliate product.  But no matter how you decide to go about this, remember that it is all based on your established sales foundation.  Becoming a Big Dog affiliate is still your first order of business, then.

The Internet savvy web entrepreneurs of the World Wide Web are all scuttling to affiliate marketing programs.  Many people are interested in making easy money on the Internet and many people just don't know how to do it.  While there are some who are clever enough to have learned this a long time ago you need to know a few things about Internet searching before you're able to actually begin to make any money and see anytime a dent in your bottom line.

The Web hungry hosts for easy money on the Internet needs to be patient with this as well.  Even though the money should come it easy eventually it can take some time to get there.  It is not always going to be the quickest of options but it can end up being a very good situation for everyone involved.  Easy money on the Internet is easy to come by and off just as long as you know what you're doing and where you're going.

To that end he need to be able to be content specific.  Not just knowing your topic but you need to have key words which are able to be found on a search engine.  If you are not keyword specific towards your topic then how will people find you? This is the true test of a successful affiliate; if you are able to be found at the top of those search engine searches, then you are doing your job. While it may seem to the untrained eye that everyone goes to Wikipedia before they go anywhere else this couldn't be further from the truth.  You need to be able to market yourself in an effective manner, you need to know what your topic is, and he need to be the place where people come to first for the or else.  If you have all these things lined up that you should be able to make plenty of easy money on the Internet in no time.

Affiliate Programs and your Website

I remember TV ads when I was a kid – back then they seemed funny, sophisticated and cute. Now looking back at those same advertisements I find myself laughing at how improbable it is that they would have reached enough people to have been worth the cost and effort – the difference is that times change and with them the way people need to be reached. For a while in the 80’s the radio was the biggest method of reaching the masses and disco and rock and roll was king again – then tastes and technology became to change again as cell phones and handheld computers grew in popularity and internet access, once just a text-based network created as an emergency communications system flourished in so many homes that it became as popular as cable TV and in some cases has even replaced phone service! In this day and age the biggest problem most advertisers have is finding a way to reach the right people with that carefully targeted advertisement so that it will do the most good.

And that is where so many of the new advertising schemes and techniques began – first with mass email and postal blitzes which were considered effective if they had a 1% return, and then as the web grew and people became more sophisticated online banner ads and sales. The latest in this emerging trend of internet-based advertising and ecommerce is the booming and still growing affiliate or associate programs which you are certain to have heard about in one form or another.

Most people have heard of an affiliate program even if they don’t know exactly what they are or how they work – these new ‘holy grails’ of modern marketing are touted as providing the ability to earn income 24-hours a day without doing anything – just add some magic code to your existing website, and viola! The claims go on and on about what affiliate programs can do for you and about how easy they are to implement - but how many people really understand the new Shangri-La of modern ecommerce, and just what exactly is an ‘affiliate program’ anyway? Until you understand at least this much getting involved in one may not only not earn you untold riches as you doubtless dream, but could even cause you headaches, confusion and in rare cases even cost you both in time and money. So sit right back as we ‘tell a tale’ and learn first the basics, and then more about one particular affiliate program and how to use it to successfully cash in on the emerging market.

Affiliates: What they are

The term “Affiliate Program” (also called an “Associate” program at times) refers to the numerous ways you can earn money either through marketing and advertising a merchant’s product or from actual sales of their products on your web site. Basically you are selling other company’s goods or services for them and in return they are cutting you in for a percentage or a flat rate of the sale.

Much less intrusive and annoying then the old bulk email craze of the late 90’s this method of reaching the public has the unique benefit of utilizing existing web pages and traffic to push the products and or services that the affiliate needs to present to the masses, and as such revenues that would in the past have gone into the pockets of large research and advertising firms are instead being shared with the hardy web site owner who is willing to put that splash screen or link on their page. If nothing else the lessons learned in the kickback against pop-up advertisements and bulk emailers show that there are limits to what people will stand for when it comes to invasive advertising – unless the product being advertised is something that they really want to see! That is why targeting is so important, and why affiliate programs can be so successful.

As with any good idea however there are caveats and exceptions – most often greedy web site owners will place too many non-related or untargeted advertisements on their page in hopes of gaining great amounts of money, only to find that just like bulk emailers of the past they have killed the proverbial golden goose! The best affiliate program in the world can’t make money for the web page designer who doesn’t put a little thought into which products or services he presents and how he presents them.

You can in effect think of affiliate programs as the ‘vending machines of the 2000’s’ because that is how they work – all the work and stocking is handled by the people who ‘own’ the machines, you only supply a little oversight and a place to store the equipment. In exchange for allowing the machines (or in this case the code) to be stored on your property you are given a cut of any profits that are generated, as stipulated by whatever contract you agree to. Since most affiliate sites work by posting links to the merchants site or ‘backend’ methods to identify where the link came from has to be incorporated into the link so that commissions will be tracked and given to the site from which the customer followed the link.

In any affiliate program there will be at least three parties: the customer, the affiliate site (you or your web site) and the merchant. In some cases an affiliate ‘broker’ may interface between you and the merchant, handling the code generation and redirects or providing the backend for the actual merchant and in some cases taking a lion’s share of any funds paid by the merchant for the service. This particular marketing strategy was started in the late 90’s by Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos in an attempt to link book sales from web sites tailored to specific fan groups to available merchants on Amazon.com and was so successful that it now boasts more then half a million affiliate sites, many of which are not commercial sites in themselves but cater to a specific market or user group that see the affiliate service as a service of the web site itself and not a marketing tool.

The ClickBank Army Of Affiliates

Promoting affiliate programs is a means to make money without making products. An affiliate program is essentially some system which allows vendors who did not create a product to become affiliated with it by selling it for a commission. Depending on how these vendors are promoting affiliate programs and which programs they promote, they could earn a 75% commission on each sale.

If you're interested in promoting affiliate programs on your blog, you will want to consider the major third party players. This list includes Link Share, ClickBank, and Commission Junction.

ClickBank and Commission Junction provide affiliate programs for most major information product sellers and membership sites. If you want to earn higher commissions, you will want to use CB and CJ, as their programs usually offer commissions between 25% and 75%.

If you’re promoting affiliate programs through LinkShare, you will have access to a virtually limitless amount of programs to promote. Just to name a few -- Netflix, Wal Mart, Target, 1 – 800 – Flowers, Pet Smart, and Apple all have affiliate programs administered t hrough LinkShare. Commissions on these physical products tend to be lower – usually in the range of 5 to 15%.

If you begin promoting affiliate programs through ClickBank, it is important that you check what your check threshold is set to. In many cases, it will be set to an amount like $100; if you would prefer them to send you a check every two weeks, regardless of how little you earn, you will need to change this manually.

If you're promoting affiliate programs through LinkShare, payment methods will vary, but most programs only pay on a monthly basis, as they are large and administered by corporations.

If you don't want to promote CJ, CB, or LS products, you can always promote large Internet-based corportions, such as Google and Ebay. Although many don't know it, Google has an affiliate program for Adwords and Adsense; and Ebay has an affiliate program for auction accounts. Both have rewarding commission systems.

Without that notice, others won’t be certain that your article is available for reprints, even if they find the article at an article site. If they are in doubt, most people won’t use it at all to protect themselves from copyright infringement accusations.

1. A web site with your own domain name.

2. At least one product or service that you own completely.

The two top pay-per-click search engines are Google and Yahoo, there are, however, others? Pay-per-click search engines allow companies to bid on keywords that relate to their sites. All new website ventures online include a domain name. Sometimes the domain is purchased from a domain broker - someone who specializes in reselling domain names. Most of the time, however, it will be registered through a domain registrar such as godaddy or venuecom. No matter how it is purchased, in all cases, the domain name (or names) for a website should be carefully considered. The basis of the marketing for the website will be the domain name chosen.

There are four basic steps to follow to ensure a marketable name for your site. When choosing and registering a domain name for a new website, follow them every time and you'll have successful domains every time.

Step #1: Choose a name. Choosing a name may be as easy as "your business name dot com" or it may be more difficult (especially if you have a common name for your business). In all cases, your business' name should be your number one pick for your domain name. If your business name is difficult to spell easily, try to register misspellings of it as well.

Step #2: Make a list of words or short phrases that have something to do with your business. Six to ten of these are good to start. Once you have the list, remove all of the ones that have more than twenty characters in them (this keeps them short). Then create new additions to your list by replacing empty spaces with "-" and "_" characters. Finally, compress the spaced words into one word. Now that you have this list, prioritize it by numbering the entries from 1 to 10.

Step #3: Check for domain availability. Go to any domain registrar and enter the domains in the order they are numbered on your list. Cross out any names on your lists that aren’t available. Once you're finished, you should have a short list of available, good domains for your business.

Step #4: Register your domain. Domain registrars are all over the Web with varying prices and services. A good registrar is worth any extra money that may be spent since a registrar going out of business could easily cause headaches and nightmares for you.

Spamming a Big No-No in Affiliate Marketing

The dictionary defines spamming as the sending of unsolicited bulk e-mail - that is, email that was not asked for (unsolicited) and received by multiple recipients (bulk). A further common definition of spam restricts it to unsolicited commercial e-mail, a definition that does not consider non-commercial solicitations such as political or religious pitches, even if unsolicited, as spam.

Spammers have developed a variety of spamming techniques, which vary by media: e-mail spam, instant messaging spam, Usenet newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, and mobile phone messaging spam.

The CAN-SPAM Act (enacted in 2003) applies to essentially all businesses in the US that use e-mail. It defines a "commercial electronic mail message" -- which is regulated by this law -- as any e-mail message "the primary purpose of which is the commercial advertisement or promotion of a commercial product or service (including content on an Internet website operated for a commercial purpose)" The penalties for blatant spamming can be severe.

To comply with the anti-spamming law make sure your unsubscribe system works. Better yet, allow people to select what kinds of messages they wish to receive from you. That way you may keep some people that would opt-out entirely if they didn't have a choice. Use a confirmed or double opt-in system. It is the only way you'll be able to prove that people gave express consent to receive your e-mail. Yes, you may lose 30% of your new subscribers who never confirm. But they weren't likely to be good customers anyway. Bite the bullet and institute a confirmed opt-in system so you'll be ahead of the curve. Be honest in they way you obtain e-mail addresses and in your e-mail promotions. Honesty is just good business, of course, since it shows respect for the customer. Business is all about meeting customer needs -- not tricking them!

Take a look at any super affiliate and I guarantee you will see one common thread. They are actually interested in what they are selling. Pick products and services that appeal to you. Then, do some research and find out if they are in demand. If they are, find a suitable affiliate program and join it.

Affiliate marketing is all about trust. You need to really believe in the product or service that you are selling and you, also, need to check it out before you market it. If you are going to put your recommendation on something, it better be worth every single penny the owner of the product/service is asking. If not, then you have let down the people you have referred to the site. Buy the product or service before you sign up as an affiliate and see if in fact it delivers what is promised. Investigate the owner of the site, ask questions, and be nosy. After all you are going to be bringing them business. They should be able to answer all your questions.

Don’t choose products that pay ridiculously low commissions. Many affiliate programs offer peanuts when it comes to commissions. 1-2% is nothing more than an insult. You will work the same amount of time and put in the same amount of effort to sell 100 products at 2% commission as you would to sell 100 products at 30% commission. Why short change yourself?

As an affiliate marketer, you need to capture e-mail addresses, then to convert that prospect into a sale. 1. Use Meta Refresh: A meta refresh is a simple bit of HTML code which automatically redirects your visitor to another page (your affiliate URL). It provides a neat way of presenting affiliate links in newsletters. It probably helps reduce commission bypassing and commission hijacking. A big advantage of using meta refreshes is that if merchants change their affiliate links, you can change links on dozens of pages quickly and easily by altering only one file.
   One problem is that some search engines don't like meta refreshes because they're frequently used for unsavory purposes. So if you use this technique, use it with caution.

2. Use a URL redirection service. You can use free services or buy a unique domain name for each affiliate program you join. URL redirection makes affiliate links less obvious, so this will reduce some commission thefts.

3. Use a web-based ad tracking service. The ad tracking link initially hides the
   affiliate link, reducing thefts.

4. Use an ad tracking script. Good ad tracking scripts hide the affiliate link as well as being useful for tracking. It has the advantage that it doesn't promote someone else's domain.

5. Use JavaScript redirect. Because this initially hides the affiliate link, it should reduce commission thefts.

Be aware that thievery is a problem for online businesses and take the necessary steps to protect your commissions.

Using ClickBank To Find Winning Product Ideas Part 1

ClickBank is the biggest online marketplace for digital products on the entire internet.  As I’m sure you’re aware, digital products and products that are instantly available after payment are extremely popular.

People want information and they want it fast (as in instantly) so ClickBank is serving a very rabid market that has money to spend and loves spending it.

The good thing about this is that you can find product ideas that are already successful and create one that’s similar.  This means you can create product without any market research, any testing or without an chance of failure.

The product is already selling and selling well on ClickBank so you can ride that into your own highly successful product!

So how do we find products on ClickBank that we can use as ideas to create products without all the usual hassles that go with product research and development?

Simple…

First, go to the following webpage in your favorite web browser…

http://www.clickbank.com
After the page loads, click the “Buy Products” tab at the top of the page.

Now you want to select the type of product that you are looking to create from the Category drop down menu.  There is also a sub-category drop down menu that may offer additional categories that are more closely defined to niche markets that may contain a category or subject that you are looking for so use this is you see something of interest.

If you have a more specific  type of product in mind rather than the broad categories that they have you can also use the “Keyword” search box to enter a word or phrase that is more targeted to the product or offering that you have in mind.

Next click the “Go” button and you will be presented with a list of products that matches your criteria.

These listings are ranked in the order of how good they sell.  So if you see a listing at the top of a page that means that is the number one selling product in the criteria that you selected.

If you find that you don’t get the type of product that you are looking for in those listings try scaling down the criteria that you have entered.  For example if you enter “eBay money easy” in the keyword box, try scaling that down to just the word eBay because this will still bring you a bunch of eBay related books that may spark your interest.

Now that you have a listing of proven, best selling products that match or closely match the criteria that you are looking for, it’s time that you take that information and leverage it to your full advantage!

Before we get to that I want to point out that using this tactic is extremely effective and will save you hundreds of hours in testing and research work and save you thousands in research and testing expenses.  Until now you’ve had to come up with an idea, create the product and test it to the market to see if it sells.

If you're looking at Google's AdSense program to make money with your blog you're surely asking yourself how much you could make from such a program. You probably think you can't make as much as you can from traditional advertising schemes.

Google, of course, keeps a great deal of secrecy regarding how much AdWords advertisers pay per each click directed to their site and the same applies for how much AdSense banner holders make from their websites and blogs

While there's nothing official, rumors circulate around the Internet concerning the amount of cash a blogger can earn by using AdSense. And many people (illegally) disclose how much they have been making with AdSense. There are stories of people raising over one thousand dollars per month using AdSense, some as much as $1000 a day just through blogging.

There are also stories of people exceeding $100,000.00 per month but it's a bit hard to believe such stories. The truth to the matter is that if you have a small blog and you just want it to support itself with a little extra income, and you don't wish to reach your pocket for its maintenance costs you can easily do this with AdSense.

AdSense is also very good for people who host a lot of pages or very large community blogs. Even if the said pages or blogs don't generate a lot of traffic individually, every click counts and you can earn up with a lot of money by doing this. And that just goes to prove that sometimes quantity matters nearly as much as quality.

There's no telling how much money you're going to make by using Google's AdSense program on your blog but you can sort of tell for yourself, before actually starting, by taking a few things into consideration.

First, is the amount of visits your blog may now get every day. While there's no way to estimate precisely on this, you can generally make a safe assumption that if you have a lot of clicks per day you'll be making good money.

Also, this depends on what exactly your blog is about. If your site is about anything popular (music, sex, whatever) you're bound to get a lot of banner clicks. These have a coefficient associated with them, called the CTR (click through ratio).

Basically, what it translates to is that if a large proportion of your site's visitors click the ads you'll be making more money. And the best way to do this is to have some popular content in your site, ensuring the links direct users towards popular items as well.

Then of course, there's the position and number of ads on your blog. While you don't want to overdo it, having many ads will undoubtedly generate more income for you as a webmaster. Do not however believe, that if you just add a lot of ads in an important portion of your site, visitors could always just skip them (and be assured that many do just that).

There's something between an art and a science to positioning your ads. People generally look in certain places and never look in others, and knowing this a website author and/or webmaster can do a great deal of things to increase his earnings with AdSense.

All in all, the amount of money you make with AdSense depends on many factors. But if you have a site with interesting contents and/or many pages, and if you see a constantly large amount of traffic every day, you can bet you'll be making a lot of money with AdSense.

Even if you aren't in the above categories, AdSense is still worth using on your blog because there's very little hassle in setting it up, and many times it can help financially support the site, whilst being a nice bonus to get through the mail at the end of the month.

Using a fancy font may look nice on your computer, but it can be thrown all out of whack when viewed on a different computer. Don’t alienate your visitors.
- Keep it simple: There’s nothing that turns a visitor off more than a website that takes too long to load or requires a bunch of additional software or plug-ins to run. If your fancy site intro won’t load or your visitor needs to download a plug-in to view it, most visitors won’t take the time to wait. Make sure your design, layout and navigation are all simple and easy to use and don’t require any special functions.

If you’re reading this you obviously know what Clickbank is and would like to increase your affiliate checks that you receive each month.

While there are loads of ways to get traffic to your link, most of them cost loads of money and you probably want to start out with a minimum of money investment.  I sure did when I first started.

That’s the goal of today’s article; to get you going and getting traffic without spending any money.

The system I am going to share with you doesn’t cost a thin dime to use and can be extremely effective in driving loads of traffic to your Clickbank Hop Links which in turn increases the amount of commission that you are receiving each month.

The entire system can be done in very little time and is so simple that it can really be broken down into three steps…

Step 1 – Write An Article

The goal here is to write an article that is directly related to a product that you want to promote via your Clickbank Hop Link.  You might be thinking, writing?  That sounds like a lot of work but it really isn’t.

TO do this in the easiest and fastest way possible, here’s what I recommend…

Write a tips based article.  A tips based article is simple a collection of a few tips related to a subject of your choosing arranged in article form.  This is very easy to do.

Here’s how to get started:

Type the subject plus the word “article” into Google and click Search.  Next, click through the articles and jot down quick tips you pick up in your own words.  So if you where trying to sell an ebook on Dog Training you would type Dog Training Article in Google.  Get at least 10 solid tips.

Next make sure each tips is nicely organized and add a sentence or two that adds more content to the tip.  This can be as simple as adding something like “I used this tip to train my dog to sit and it worked great!”  As you can see adding commentary and opinions like that not only flesh out your article but also add personality into it.

After you have fleshed out each of your ten tips, you want to add an introduction to the article.  I recommend that you just tell in 3-5 short sentences what they can expect to learn in this article.  For example, if you are giving them Dog Training Tips, explain what a couple of the tips that you reveal are about.  The key here is to stir up a little curiosity and make them want to read further.

As for the title, I recommend that you use as simple of a title as possible.  Once again, the “tips” theme works great here.  In our Dog Training example you could simple name your article “10 Quick Dog Training Tips”.
