Selling advertising space is one of the oldest methods of revenue generation. In the past, it has been used on billboards, on radio shows, in newspapers, and in magazines. Since the advent of the Internet, selling advertising space has become even more popular, as it allows advertisers to better target customers by demographic breakdowns.

While selling advertising space on the Internet has traditionally been done through banner advertisements, image ads, and textlinks past, that is no longer the case. Now, selling advertising space is usually done through some sort of third party program.

The most popular type of third party program for selling advertising space is Google's Adwords/Adsense combination. Through Adwords, advertisement publishers create ads and distribute them throughout Google's network, which includes both search engine partners and sites and blogs with content, such as yours. By simply tuning variables and submitting an ad to Google, the publisher can completely avoid having to find sites to advertise on; and can, at the same time, avoid paying for “page views,” rather than performance or action.

Through Adsense, you can begin selling advertising space for your blog by generating code that matches the your layout. You can then insert it into three different places per page. You can also insert a search function, which will also yield ads that will match the visitor's search keywords.

While this has become considerably more popular in recent years, it is important to note that older forms of selling advertising space still do exist. You can still sell advertising by seeking out larger firms and asking them if they are interested in purchasing a periodic image or text advertisement on your website. You can also work through a third party “link broker” and have them do the same thing for you.

Additionally, you can still engage in banner selling or banner exchanges. While they have fallen out of favor somewhat as of late, they can still be a reliable means of generating blog revenue.

Make Money Blogging With or Without Adsense ? Some Options

When deciding whether to incorporate Adsense into your blog there are several factors to consider. Many feel that it diminishes their brand, whilst others see it as a useful tool for visitors which creates revenues and makes their content profitable.

The choice can largely come down to the commercial goals and the purpose of your blog. Many businesses who sell products decide to place Adsense adverts within their blog. This would appear to be a strange choice, opening up opportunities for rivals to promote their service or product to your potential customer base.

Many publishers claim that they are only doing this to allow companies who provide ancillary services to advertise. These claims have some merit, as those who for example sell pillows could provide those who sell bedding with an opportunity to advertise.

Although this would make sense, there are still those online retailers who allow rivals to penetrate their audience. Many claim that there are still benefits in allowing your direct competitors to advertise within your blog. One of these is that ultimately if visitors wish to see your competitors they would be able to see them through a Google search regardless. This may be true however the thought of an established brand like coco-cola having a Pepsi advert in their blog is not even a possibility.

Another factor which is considered in this situation is that publishers do not feel that Adsense is effective in making conversions. They feel that visitors who would click on adverts are not highly qualified customers, as they would quickly navigate to the materials or products that interest them if they were.

Despite Adsense being a questionable choice for online retailers, it is surely a good supplementary service for other varieties of online publishers. For example, a blog which provides a free service like dictionary.com gets high levels of traffic, and is able to make their service profitable through adsense. This has been the case for Bloggers who originally provided content free of charge, being unable to reach the scale that is necessary to contract with advertisers directly.

This could also apply to other previously free services, including wider forms of information broadcast, and news for example. In 2006 a man who later published a selection of Videos claims to make $19,000 a month through adsense, claiming that he was also contacted through Google to help him increase the CTR (Click Through Rate) that he achieved. The thought of success like this has been a major factor in stimulating online publishers to opt for Adsense.

Many publishers also claim that adsense makes their blog look more professional. Those who are able to contract with advertisers are generally seen to provide a service with large appeal, and therefore those unfamiliar with the program may feel that the Adsense advertiser is in this position.

Adsense however, is also aligned with those publishers who use the service purely to provide links to adverts. Everyone has done a Google search, clicked on an Adwords advert and came into a blog which reads top ten resources on… This is a major problem, as is generally something that surfers find frustrating. If people see that it says adverts by Google, and they then see adverts by Google on another site, they may align that site with consumer unfriendly practices. This is therefore an issue which Google has to address, to maintain Adsense as a reputable service.

Regardless of the disadvantages and the blogs for which the service may be inappropriate it is still a useful tool for blog visitors. Those who visit a blog, and click on a link provide revenues for the publisher, whilst those who provide free services are able to generate revenue.

The only fear that Google has, is that rival PPC programs offer better deals to publishers and they decide to go elsewhere, therefore taking advertisers with them. However, ultimately it is best for advertisers and publishers if they largely remain in same PPC circuit.

Blogging and Google Adsense

Making a decent income from Google Adsense – is it even possible? Anyone who has received a single, $100 check or deposit from Google after an entire year's work will probably say no, it isn't possible; and anyone who tells you that making a decent income from Google Adsense is possible is lying to you. On the other hand, anyone selling a product that promotes the use of Google Adsense will probably tell you that it's easy to make thousands of dollars each month.

What is the truth about making a decent income from Google Adsense? It's somewhere in the middle. The good news (or maybe bad news) is that there aren't any real tricks to the process. The key to making a decent income from Google Adsense lies in repeating a bunch of tedious research and development actions hundreds of times.

The first step to making a decent income from Google Adsense involves actually finding the right keywords. Now, the “right keywords” will depend on what you plan to use as your source of traffic. If your source of traffic is design and linking – i.e. natural search engine optimization – then you will want to look at two things: which keywords have high pay-per-click values (you can research this with an Adwords account) and high bidder densities, but very few competing sites for non-sponsored results? If you can find keywords that have few competitors and high bids, you have a winning niche. All you have to do now is develop a site with Adsense ads, build in search engine optimization, and wait to get traffic.

Another means of making a decent income from Google Adsense is called “arbitrage.” This technique essentially consists of buying pay-per-click traffic from Google through Adwords and then directing it to a site that contains Adsense ads. Your goal in this situation should be to find keywords with high PPC values for your site and keywords with low PPC costs for your advertisements.

If done properly, either of these techniques can yield a consistent income, but it more than likely will take months before this occurs.

Affiliate Marketing via Blogging Home Internet Business Money Ideas

Promoting affiliate programs is a means to make money without making products. An affiliate program is essentially some system which allows vendors who did not create a product to become affiliated with it by selling it for a commission. Depending on how these vendors are promoting affiliate programs and which programs they promote, they could earn a 75% commission on each sale.

If you're interested in promoting affiliate programs on your blog, you will want to consider the major third party players. This list includes Link Share, ClickBank, and Commission Junction.

ClickBank and Commission Junction provide affiliate programs for most major information product sellers and membership sites. If you want to earn higher commissions, you will want to use CB and CJ, as their programs usually offer commissions between 25% and 75%.

If you’re promoting affiliate programs through LinkShare, you will have access to a virtually limitless amount of programs to promote. Just to name a few -- Netflix, Wal Mart, Target, 1 – 800 – Flowers, Pet Smart, and Apple all have affiliate programs administered t hrough LinkShare. Commissions on these physical products tend to be lower – usually in the range of 5 to 15%.

If you begin promoting affiliate programs through ClickBank, it is important that you check what your check threshold is set to. In many cases, it will be set to an amount like $100; if you would prefer them to send you a check every two weeks, regardless of how little you earn, you will need to change this manually.

If you're promoting affiliate programs through LinkShare, payment methods will vary, but most programs only pay on a monthly basis, as they are large and administered by corporations.

If you don't want to promote CJ, CB, or LS products, you can always promote large Internet-based corportions, such as Google and Ebay. Although many don't know it, Google has an affiliate program for Adwords and Adsense; and Ebay has an affiliate program for auction accounts. Both have rewarding commission systems.

How to Make Money From Your Blogs

Other than direct sales and adsense, are there any other methods you can make money from using your blog? Yes, there are several, but three are usually used more often than others: 1) lead generation; 2) affiliate marketing; and 3) newsletter subscriptions.

Of all the other methods you can make money from with your blog, lead generation may be the most promising. This is an especially true if the market your blog is in is related to anything financial. Mortage and refinance leads are especially good, as they bring in tiered commissions. Your first commission will come when you generate the initial lead – which will simple entail getting someone to fill out a completely free form; this lead will earn you anywhere from $3 to $12. If this lead then goes on to refinance her home with the company in question, you could earn a windfall of several hundreds or several thousands of dollars.

The other methods you can make money from with your blog include affiliate marketing and newsletter subscriptions. Affiliate marketing generally consists of either directly signing up as an affiliate through someone's website – or signing up as an affiliate through a third party. You will then use your blog to market this person's products for a share of the total price. If you sell information products from Click Bank or Commission Junction, you can earn as much as 75% per sale; however, if you sell physical products, such as chairs and tables from Link Share retailers, such as Wal Mart, you will earn a 7-15% commission at best.

If these other methods you can make money from don't sound appealing, you can always consider newsletter subscriptions. You can create an opt-in page or a “squeeze page” on your blog and offer a trial subscription to your newsletter. If you provide quality content and promote your blog, you could end up with hundreds of subscribers over time.

Other methods you can make money from on your blog include selling advertising space directly and selling site memberships that allow visitors to access certain server-side tools.

Building Content Rich Blogs

Building content rich pages is an absolute must if you wish to optimize your blog for search engine traffic. But what are the best ways in which to go about building content rich pages?

There are essentially three factors you have to consider when building content rich pages: Is this content unique? Is this content self-updating? And is this content actually useful to human beings?

The first question is possibly the most important, but also the most debatable. If your site does not contain unique content—content which has not already been spidered by search engines—it more than likely will not be ranked highly. Additionally, if your unique content is in video format or in any other language other than HTML, search engine spiders might not be able to recognize it as content at all—and, in all likliness, will not be able to factor it into ranking algorithms. So when you look think about adding content, consider looking for good sources of unique textual content, such as articles written by ghostwriting agencies from guru.com or elance.com.

Additionally, you will want to consider whether you are building content rich pages with self-updating content or static content. RSS feeds, Google Adsense, YPN, and Amazon Ads are all forms of self-updating content. When search engines spider your website, they will pick up all these different forms of content and view them as “new” content, which improves your site in the eyes of the search engine spider.

The last question you will want to answer when you are building content rich pages is whether your content is actually useful to human beings. For instance, is your RSS feed picking up topics that are only marginally-related to your topic? Are your articles jumbled garbage that only exist to host ads? If this is the case, your site will likely get canned by major search engines at some point in the future. Even if they don't, you are throwing away a significant amount of revenue by not encouraging repeat visits.

Once you have answered these three questions, you will be well on your way to building content rich pages that will keep the spiders and the visitors coming back.

How to Drive Targeted Traffic into Your Blog

Driving targeted traffic into your blog obviously isn't an easy, uninvolved process. If it were, blog owners would not need to purchase and review courses on targeted traffic generation methods. And while it isn't an “easy and uninvolved process,” the answer to the question of how to drive targeted traffic into your blog isn't tricky, either; it's just not something people want to hear because it's simple and tedious. There are essentially four basic traffic generation techniques you can use to answer the question of how to drive targeted traffic into your blog. If you adhere to these techniques and use conventional methods, you will generate a consistent stream traffic in the long run.

The first technique experts say answers the question of how to drive targeted traffic into your blog is to purchase one-time, periodic-rate advertisments. This can include radio advertisements, billboard advertisements, classified advertisments, E-zine solo ads, or banner advertisements. All of these advertisments will send a one-time surge of traffic to your site. From there, it is your job to “recycle” those visitors into members or repeat buyers.

The second technique experts say answers the question of how to drive targeted traffic into your blog is with contextual advertising through Google Adwords. Google Adwords will allow you to specifically target your audience by selecting keyphrases and keywords, which, when searched for, will yield your ad as a “sponsored advertisement.” You can do this either exclusively on Google's search network (i.e. Google, AOL, Ask.com, Earthlink, etc.) or you can also do it on their content network, which is essentially any site that contains Google Adsense ads—possibly including your own.

The third way to drive targeted traffic to your blog is through natural search engine traffic. You can do this by optimizing both onpage and offpage factors. Onpage factors include keyword density and place, titles, headers, and uniqueness and freshness of content. Offpage optimization includes exchanging links with other related sites. In order to maximize offpage optimization, you should seek out sites that have high PR and Alexa ratings and offer to exchange front page links. Also, make sure your targeted keyword is in the anchor text of the links they put on their sites.

The fourth and last way of generating traffic is through “recycling.” This simply means creating a website that has build-in systems that retain visitors and encourage them to come back. This can be a number of different things—from autoresponder courses to raffles to free software downloads.

Using Ghostwriters to Write Blog Content For You

If you operate a large blog with a considerable readership, you may want to consider using ghostwriters to write content for you. The major advantage to hiring a ghostwriter is that it frees you up to do the things you do best, such as marketing, product-creation, or administrative work.

Using ghostwriters to write content for you can also be quite beneficial if you can find some who are experts on whichever subject you are blogging about. For instance, if you are blogging about sauces, you may actually be able to find someone who has attended a culinary school and can write excellent articles and homeade recipes for sauce on your blog.

In most cases, using ghostwriters to write content for you will entail some sort of contractual obligation. For instance, if you hire someone from guru.com or elance.com, you will have to post a project and then specifically select one of the project applications to complete the project for you. They (the writers) may require you to pay a deposit upfront – and Guru or Elance will require you to pay some sort of fee for using them as a labor market intermediary.

The largest challenge to using ghostwriters to write content for you is that they are often somewhat unpredictable – at least until you have developed a long-lasting relationship. For instance, you may hire a ghostwriter and then find out that he or she never responds to you after receiving the deposit. You may also find that the ghostwriter will plagiarize portions of the work and will take off if you question him about it. All of these are important potential problems to consider when using ghostwriters to write content for you.

In summary, it using ghostwriters to write content for you can be quite beneficial for your blog – regardless of the subject – but if you don't have a reasonable means to protect yourself against plagiarism and to pay the writer without putting yourself at risk, it may be somewhat of a hassle until you find the right writer.

Why Keyword Focus and Density Matter in Blogging

Why Keyword Focus and Density Matter in Blogging

The topic of this article is especially important, as it is hotly debated: Why focus & density matters. While some would state why keyword focus & density matters – because it is one of the best ways to optimize your page for traffic – other would challenge that premise altogether. There are essentially two things which will be used to rank your blog – your onpage factors and your offpage factors. The bulk of your onpage score will quite simply be determined by your keyword focus and density. This is why keyword focus & density matters.

Of course, your offpage factors should also be optimized for keyword focus, too. For instance, if you're planning to optimize your blog for the keyword “Sunflower Seeds,” you will want to use the keyphrase “Sunflower Seeds” in the anchor text of all of your links. This means that the title of your link in any directories you submit to will say “Sunflower Seeds.” This is arguably a far more important form of optimization; however, it is still an argument for why keyword focus & density matters, but simply from an offpage perspective about focus, rather than density.

For onpage factors, you will want to consider your title, your headers, and your keyword focus and density for the body of your site. Before you even create your blog, you will want to figure out what keyword you should optimize for. An easy way to do this is to determine how many people search for your keyword. You can use overture's inventory tool to do this. You can then compare that number against the amount of competing pages by Googling that keyword in quotations. You may also want to check out competing pay-per-click bids through your Google Adwords account if you plan to publish Adsense ads.

Once you have selected a good keyword or set of keywords for your blog, you will then want to optimize your blog for these keywords. You can do this by inserting these keywords into your blog entries at a density of approximately 1.5% -- or six uses per 300 words.

Working on your blog's keyword focus and density – including both onpage and offpage factors -- is crucial because it will ultimately determine how much traffic you receive. Additionally, optimizing onpage factors for keywords that are searched for less than 1000 times may allow you to capture an entire search group without actually competing.

Blog Content Writing Tips

Blog Content and Writing Tips

How important is it to find content & writing tips for your blog? Content generation and writing are two important parts of any blog. If you can't generate content for your blog, no one is going to read it. And if you cannot clearly communicate your ideas on your blog through writing, no one will understand the purpose of your blog, possibly including search engine spiders. This is precisely why you need good content & writing tips to keep your thoughts on track.

A good place to find content & writing tips is either a forum or another blog. If you scan writing forums, you will find good tips for writing clearly; likewise, if you scan marketing forums, you will find good content & writing tips—especially about communicating concepts clearly. If you scan popular blogs, you will see how the experts do it; and you can use that to determine how you should do it.

If content generation is your problem, you may want to consider the resources of content available; there are three: reusable content, alterable content, and public domain content. Alterable content, such as ghostwritten and private label articles have the highest content value for blogs, as they can be turned into content that is unique for both visitors and for search engines. Public domain content also has a high value. Massive government documents that are in the public domain can be used and quoted from on your blog. This is especially good if this information is in PDF format or is on a page that contains thousands of words. In either instance, the information will not be identified by search engine spiders as being duplicate. The last type of content you can use is reusable content; and this includes articles with reprint writes and syndicated content. This has a low technical value in terms of content, but it can sometimes provide the best content for visitors.

If writing is your problem, you may want to consider hiring a freelancing blog updater. This could be a fairly inexpensive arrangement, especially if said person is only updating your blog 2-3 times per week.

In sum, all content & writing tips boil down to the following: write clearly and with purpose on your blog and use content that both humans and search engines find useful.

RSS Blog Benefits

How can RSS benefit your blogging activites? RSS can benefit your blogging activites in two different ways: it can help you generate traffic and it can help you retain traffic. RSS can benefit your traffic-generation efforts by adding fresh, optimized content to your blog automatically; and it can benefit your traffic retention rate by providing better, updated content for your blog visitors.

Also, how can RSS benefit your blogging activites in other ways? If you own a blog, you will have to constantly update it with fresh content, so you can ping more often and so you can get higher rankings for your targeted keyphrases. Aggregating and using RSS feeds can benefit your blogging activities significantly by allowing you to add fresh, targeted content to your blog without actually updating it yourself. Whenever a search engine visitors your blog, it will record your RSS feed updates as fresh and possibly unique, targeted content.

How can RSS benefit your blogging activities in other ways? If you own a blog, you can further enhance the amount of unique visitors you get by using RSS to syndicate your updates. In addition to netting you several backlinks on blogs and websites (which will increase your offpage search engine optimization score), it will also net you some unique visitors through direct links from other blogs and sites.

How can RSS benefit your blogging activities by recycling traffic? If your site aggregates a number of important authority sites via RSS feed, you will become an authority site aggregator at the very least, which is useful for people looking to find authority sites on your given topic.

In summary, how can RSS benefit your blogging activities? RSS can benefit your blog by generating traffic – by improving your actual search engine rankings and by increasing the amount of direct click-thrus you receive – and by helping you retain traffic – by positioning your site as an authority aggregator and by providing better, original content for blog visitors.

Submitting Your Blog to RSS & Blog Directories

Submitting your blog to RSS & blog directories is considerably easier than submitting fully-functional sites to website directories. This is because there are free, automatic systems in place that allow you to submit an updated version of your blog to directories without doing any form-filling.

This automatic system for submitting your blog to RSS & blog directories is known as pinging. You ping your blog at sites like kping.com and pingoat.com. When you ping your blog, the system will automatically send the latest update from your blog to all of the largest blog directorires – usually on the order of about 40 or so. This means that submitting your blog to RSS & blog directories can actually be as simple as filling in your URL and title – and then hitting submit. The only thing you will want to be careful about is the title you use. You will want to make sure that you use your most targeted keyword in the title you submit, as that will be attached to all of the backlinks you receive from these directories.

Additionally, submitting your blog to RSS & blog directories will get your blog placed on the front page of a number of blog directories. This may generate some quick traffic for you from people who are looking at the latest blogs to be updated.

Once you are finished submitting your blog to RSS & blog directories via ping, you will then want to search out directories that you cannot ping and submit to them individually. Vilesilencer.com provides a fairly complete list of RSS and blog directories. You will want to first submit to directories that offer certain perks (i.e., first page listings) or have higher PR – as this will confer higher more PR to your blog. Since you cannot submit to most RSS directories via ping, they will probably make up the bulk of your submissions.

Blog SEO

Any blog owner who wishes to get traffic without constant promotion and marketing will have to use some form of search engine optimization. While search engine optimization is a hotly debated topic, most experts agree on two things: in order to best optimize for search engines, you must establish reciprocal or one-way inbound links; and you must also optimize the content on your pages for specific keywords.

The first phase of any search engine optimization project is researching those keywords. Before you start to optimize, you must determine which keywords will pull the most traffic for the least amount of effort. You can do this by purchasing a subscription to Word Tracker or you can do this by using Overture Inventory to search “aggregate search” records for all possible keywords for which you could potentially optimize your blog. Record all of the returns you receive for an Overture Inventory search you perform on your given keyword. Your next step will be to analyze the site or page supply for your keywords. You can do this by searching for each of the returned keywords on Google. Not only will you want to record the search return data in terms of numbers, but you will also want to look at the top competitors for those keywords (i.e., are the PR 9 home pages or are they a deep page for an unranked site?) Optimal keywords for search engine optimization purposes will have high search counts, low site returns, and low-quality competition in the top slots.

Your next step should be to perform onpage search engine optimization. You can do this by using your selected keywords as titles and headers on different pages of your blog. You will then want to fill those pages will good information about the keyword in question; additionally, you will want to optimize it for a keyword density of 1.5%.

The last step in your search engine optimization campaign is to perform offpage optimization. You can do this by submitting links to directories that contain a selected keyword in the link title. You can also join link swap programs and swap with other high-quality blogs.

Blog Traffic Generation Strategies

Other than search engine optimization, what are some other notable traffic generation strategies? The most popular traffic generation strategies today are pay-per-performance (PPP), which essentially means that you only pay for traffic when you actually receive some sort of quantifiable benefit from the traffic generation service.

For instance, some of these other notable traffic generation strategies include pay-per-click (PPC), which is a type of PPP advertising that only charges you when someone actually clicks on your advertisment. Google is currently the largest server of PPC advertisements; and does so through Google Adwords, which allows advertisers to bid on keywords and create small ads that will be distributed throughout a search and content network.

Another one of the other notable traffic generation strategies which does not fall under the PPP blanket is social marketing. This consists of marketing your product face-to-face with other human beings. You can do this by contacting potentially-interested buyers through social networking systems, such as Myspace; you can also do it by making phone calls and sending emails.

The last other notable traffic generation strategies you will want to consider are viral traffic generation. This can be done in dozens of different ways. One way is simply by actually creating an excellent product and by providing excellent service for your customers. Overtime, if you hold true to your promises and you help your clients and customers, they will help you in turn by recommending your product to other people.

Another way to generate viral traffic is by allowing people to “steal” your products. For instance, you could give away free shareware products, which people could only receive through referral. This creates a “buzz” about your product and also creates as demand, as there is now a free product everyone has access to, but they must find someone else who has it in order to get their download.

While search engine optimization is important, it is crucial that you consider the other notable traffic generation strategies; otherwise, you will limit your business to a hobby.

Is Blogging For You or Everyone?

Is blogging for you or even for everyone? I guess it all depends on how we define blogging. For instance, if we include social network blogging, blogging is indeed for you and for everyone, as a good percentage of Internet users operate some form of social networking blog. Currently, over 60 million people in the United States alone do that with Myspace.

So is blogging for you or everyone? If we consider commercial endeavours, it certainly is not for everyone. Only about 7% of Internet users operate blogs for commercial purposes.

The question of “is blogging for you or everyone?” also applies to entrepreneurs. Blogging can be an excellent tool for an entrepreneur – especially those who are sole proprietors looking for a good and inexpensive venue for promotion, but that doesn't mean that everyone should necesssarily do it. In some instances, a private forum will be a better means of recorded, Internet-based communication between a group of people. In other instances, a website will require less maintenance and will be a better stand-alone traffic puller, especially if the would-be blogger does not have the time to constantly update and promote a blog.

However, there definitely are a number of good reasons to blog. One of the best reasons is that it's really easy. Building a good website can take hundreds of hours. This is not so with a blog. With a blog, you can simply open up an account with Blogger and begin posting. No coding or HTML-editing is required. You don't even need to learn how to use WYSIWYG program – or how to upload your uploads to your website.

So is blogging for you or everyone? It isn't for everyone, especially if we're considering commercial blogging; some people don't own businesses, have nothing to promote, and have no interest in starting. But there's a good chance blogging is for you if you want to a low cost means of promoting your business. It's cheap, comparatively easy, and quick to start.

Blogging for Profit Begins Here

Many people dream of blogging for profit, and this goal is not far beyond the reach of someone with average intelligence, a willingness to work hard, and a basic grasp of blogging technology. However, very few people manage to reap the profits they want from their blog. Most people who attempt to make money with their blogs do not succeed for two reasons.

Often, bloggers have unrealistic expectations of how fast their readership will grow and how much money they will make, and when these expectations are not met the disappointment can crush the desire to continue blogging. The other trap that many bloggers fall into has to do with lack of planning. If you want to turn a profit as a blogger, the key to success is to make a realistic plan and stick with it.

To succeed at blogging for profit, the main thing that you will need is a large readership. The higher your traffic, the more advertisers will agree to pay you. However, cultivating the regular visitors that you will need in order to make a profit isn't easy. As more and more blogs appear each day, having a great idea or a wonderful writing style is no longer enough to get attention.

You need to be able to market your blog effectively. Too many bloggers spend all of their time writing posts and almost no time marketing their project. To be certain, updating as often as you can is a great way to keep your blog high on blogrolls and high in blog search engines like technorati, and once your readers know that you update frequently they will return to your site on a regular basis. However, it does not matter how often you update if nobody is reading your page, so don't skimp on the time that you spend drawing visitors to your site.

To make your dreams of blogging for profit a reality, try decreasing your number of posts and using some of that time to draw new visitors by setting up link exchanges with other bloggers, making contacts in the blog community, and following other established modes of winning traffic. Of course, even if you are a marketing genius or have a really great idea for a blog, success is not going to happen overnight.

Building the kind of readership that blogging for profit requires takes time, and in all likelihood it will be at least several months before you are able to turn much of a profit. Try to stay committed to your blogging project during this initial rough period. To stay motivated, set goals for how often you will update and how many readers you want to attract, and then reward yourself for sticking with your plan.

Adsense Alternatives For Your Blog Part 1

Many people have started using Google's AdSense program to make cash on their blogs, but there are some who find it a bit too uncertain or simply not suiting their own requirements from an ad program.

But thankfully for such people, there are many alternatives to AdSense to help make you cash from your blog that attempt to alleviate some of the Adsense shortcomings. Here is a list of the most noteworthy ones from the lot with a description concerning each one.

AllFeeds (http://www.allfeeds.com/?action=publishers)
AllFeeds has a great pool of online advertisers to choose from to place on your blog. It also features many display formats that you can choose from. These include banners, buttons, XML feeds, DHTML pop-ups and so on. It also features real time reporting of your ad status. The site will mail a check every month, provided that you earn more then $25.00, while rolling over earnings for the next month if you don't. Another interesting thing about AllFeeds is that it integrates with Google AdSense, maximizing your earnings with AdSense.

MarketBanker (http://www.marketbanker.com/mb/sell.php)
MarketBanker allows you the unique possibility to set the pricing for your blog. It also allows you to allow or reject any link that appears on your site (although AdSense itself does a very good job of this as well, with URL filters) There's also a statistics section which will allow you to see how well your site is doing. The ads are small just like AdSense's and they're just as easy to set up. Also, registration for MarketBanker is free.

BidClix ( http://www.bidclix.com/PubTop.html)
BidClix is different because it has advertisers compete for clicks on your blog, which in turn is meant to generate the highest possible profits for your blogs pages. It also has a very large pool of advertisers which ensure there are plenty of people to choose your site. However, it does require more polish on site contents then AdSense. As most sites, real time statistics are available and its very easy to get started with this service, but it's also very flexible.

Chitika (http://www.realcontext.com/index.php?option=RealContext:+Contextual+Targeting+Engine)
RealContext uses Artificial intelligence to retrieve the most relevant ads for your page. And there's an extra feature which makes RealContext unique as well. Keywords are selected based upon which previous selections paid off and which didn't. That means there's a constant feedback process that ensures you gain better revenue from your ads. It also supports blocking certain adds and child-safe filtering and many more options.

AdHearus (http://adhearus.com/webmaster.php)
AdHearus is a very feature-packed contextual ad provider. As with AdSense, advertisements are targeted but it doesn't stop here at all. The ads are very flexible, you can select from text-ads, banners, rectangles, pop-ups, pop-unders or skyscrapers. You can also display your own ads, through rotation, both on your site and on other affiliate sites, which makes AdHearus a hybrid with conventional advertising technologies. There's a very comprehensive on-line real time reporting feature and, as usual with such services, starting out is free and it's a breeze.

AffiliateSensor (http://www.affiliatesensor.com/)
AffiliateSensor has highly customizable ad blocks, which you can make for yourself with an easy to use on-line interface. You also get realtime reporting with clicks-by-domain, page and referrer. There's integration with Google AdSense as well, through the google_alternate_ad_url so AffiliateSensor can be used as a substitute for Google PSA's (Public Service Ads).

Kanoodle Bright Ads (http://www.kanoodle.com/about/brightads.cool)
Kanoodle's offering allows publishers to get ads related to topics or segments, and not the traditional keyword oriented ads. The site also groups publisher sites with advertisers by hand to ensure high-revenue generating ads. And speaking of revenue, the amount of money you receive is a clear 50% share of the amount of money Kanoodle receives for an advertiser.

TargetPoint (http://publisher.targetpoint.com)
TargetPoint is oriented more towards content publishers. It offers full control over the look the ads, statistics over your site's overall performance and better revenue. It's free to register and you earn a guaranteed 60% of the total revenue. You can get paid with Paypal of Bank checks and (most times) wire transfers as well.

Clicksor (http://www.clicksor.com)
Clicksor will earn you as much as 60% from the amount of money your website produces. What you get is about the same as AdSense, there are targeted text ads, you can view the revenues from your website in real time. You can receive money via PayPal or through a check every two weeks, provided that you have earned more then $50. If you haven't made that much, your earning roll over to the next period

How Much Money Can I Earn With My Blog?

If you're looking at Google's AdSense program to make money with your blog you're surely asking yourself how much you could make from such a program. You probably think you can't make as much as you can from traditional advertising schemes.

Google, of course, keeps a great deal of secrecy regarding how much AdWords advertisers pay per each click directed to their site and the same applies for how much AdSense banner holders make from their websites and blogs

While there's nothing official, rumors circulate around the Internet concerning the amount of cash a blogger can earn by using AdSense. And many people (illegally) disclose how much they have been making with AdSense. There are stories of people raising over one thousand dollars per month using AdSense, some as much as $1000 a day just through blogging.

There are also stories of people exceeding $100,000.00 per month but it's a bit hard to believe such stories. The truth to the matter is that if you have a small blog and you just want it to support itself with a little extra income, and you don't wish to reach your pocket for its maintenance costs you can easily do this with AdSense.

AdSense is also very good for people who host a lot of pages or very large community blogs. Even if the said pages or blogs don't generate a lot of traffic individually, every click counts and you can earn up with a lot of money by doing this. And that just goes to prove that sometimes quantity matters nearly as much as quality.

There's no telling how much money you're going to make by using Google's AdSense program on your blog but you can sort of tell for yourself, before actually starting, by taking a few things into consideration.

First, is the amount of visits your blog may now get every day. While there's no way to estimate precisely on this, you can generally make a safe assumption that if you have a lot of clicks per day you'll be making good money.

Also, this depends on what exactly your blog is about. If your site is about anything popular (music, sex, whatever) you're bound to get a lot of banner clicks. These have a coefficient associated with them, called the CTR (click through ratio).

Basically, what it translates to is that if a large proportion of your site's visitors click the ads you'll be making more money. And the best way to do this is to have some popular content in your site, ensuring the links direct users towards popular items as well.

Then of course, there's the position and number of ads on your blog. While you don't want to overdo it, having many ads will undoubtedly generate more income for you as a webmaster. Do not however believe, that if you just add a lot of ads in an important portion of your site, visitors could always just skip them (and be assured that many do just that).

There's something between an art and a science to positioning your ads. People generally look in certain places and never look in others, and knowing this a website author and/or webmaster can do a great deal of things to increase his earnings with AdSense.

All in all, the amount of money you make with AdSense depends on many factors. But if you have a site with interesting contents and/or many pages, and if you see a constantly large amount of traffic every day, you can bet you'll be making a lot of money with AdSense.

Even if you aren't in the above categories, AdSense is still worth using on your blog because there's very little hassle in setting it up, and many times it can help financially support the site, whilst being a nice bonus to get through the mail at the end of the month.

The Pitfalls of Pay-per-Click Advertising in your Blog

It is easy to become a Blogger these days.  Webmasters and business owners are easily attracted to the convenience and simplicity of Blogging.  This includes the use of Pay-per Click Advertising.  Pay-per-click advertising is deceptively simple, which means that business owners often jump in without knowing fully what they are getting in to.  This can be a costly investment with no return.  It is important that you know the pitfalls of pay-per-click advertising on your Blog.

PPC has not only a cost but also a variable cost associated with every click. As the cost per click (CPC) determine not only position (i.e. visibility) but also, via tracking, a tangible impact to a business in the form of cost per lead (CPL) or cost per acquisition (CPA), controlling these factors are critical but can be confusing and above all, time consuming. Bidding is the key to success, once a campaign is live, but the most important factor in any PPC campaign setup is selecting the correct keywords, as without these the pursuit of success is extremely difficult.   For a busy Blogger who is trying to keep their Blog updated with quality content, monitoring the success of your PPC programs can be an inefficient waste of marketing time.

Another big waste of time is when a PPC firm deletes your account for committing some sort of PPC fraud or something else against the terms and conditions of your agreement.  This happens when Bloggers are not aware of how the program works and accidental clicks can occur.  Or worse, your account might be spammed and then you spend much time recovering what is yours or trying to get your account re-opened.

Is that PPC really profiting for your Blog? Because if it is not you should remove it for your benefit and the readers benefit.  Most readers appreciate Blogs that are not overwhelmed with ads.  It is not only distracting but also annoying.  From the Bloggers perspective, you do not want to have other stimuli grabbing your reader’s interest away from your content before they even read it.  PPC is supposed to benefit you, but if it is only redirecting your visitors than is it worth it?  Are your leads converting in to sales?  If not than all you have done by adding the PPC advertising to your Blog is redirected traffic to the benefit of no one.

Your readers will be more attracted to a Blog that has no PPC or little PPC advertising.  They tend to take these Blogs more seriously, and less guarded about what they are reading.  Where as a Blog that has massive amounts of PPC and links sends them warning signals that perhaps this is simply an advertisement of some sort, or rather not something that they should be taking seriously.  Blogs that are strictly content and have a more professional look and it is easier to determine what the writer wants you to come away with.  There is a niche in the blogging community that likes to boast about zero advertising.  While there is nothing wrong with making money while Blogging, keeping your advertisements at a minimum, and well placed, will help your Blog.

Full-time Income a Possibility With Blogging

It is every writers dream to be able to write full-time and get paid for it. Most writers who pursue a living in writing find out very early that in order to make a decent living it will require a great deal of writing. Writing about different topics of different lengths for different companies and the living the writer wishes to obtain seems so far out of reach that the writer ends up getting a second job and putting writing off until they have enough free time.

Blogging offers a different attempt at making money for submitting your opinions and personal insertions about your life. There are some good and bad things when it comes to blogging and the possibility of gaining a full time income is based on how the writer takes it in. The good thing about blogging is it doesn’t require a great deal of writing. The average blog takes less than three hundred words depending on what the writer is writing about and there are hundreds of blog sites to upload our content on.

Like anything we do as a profession, it requires a certain network to get started and to expand. Most blog sites pay .15 cents per blog or even less per word but the bulk of your money comes from either how many people read your blog or respond to it.

Can you acquire a full time income with blogging? Definitely but it will not happen overnight, not unless you are on the internet eight to ten hours a day and you have a large network of people who will visit your blog site, read and respond to your blogs.

Another way to begin to obtain a full time income with blogging is that the writer will have to join and blog on numerous sites to build up the network of readers who will read your material. Now producing enough material is one part of it but the other part is your content needs to be interesting and consistent. Think about it, there are thousands of blog sites and hundreds of thousands of bloggers so your titles and content needs to be fresh, original and have the ability to grab the attention of a reader or fellow blogger in an instant.

Gaining a full time income with blogging means giving it a full time effort with a little overtime here and there, it is not something you can do three or four times a week or a couple hours a day. It is something that will take hours at first to do until you no longer have to read other people’s blogs and add them as friends. If your content is original, eye catching and can generate discussion amongst readers then you are on your way to gaining a full time income with blogging.

Most blogging sites don’t prohibit you from placing the same blog on other sites so if an entry is generating buzz you have the freedom of placing it on several other sites and that can draw people to your main site to read and hit your blogs. It takes time but the amount of time depends on you. If you work eight to ten hours a day in a retail store and you take those hours and add an hour or two here there shouldn’t be a reason why you cant get a full time income from blogging.

Lastly, the average writer can also be employed to create someone else’s blog.  They can be paid to update the blog of their client.  Of course, their client will end up getting the ad profits, but the writer will usually get a flat fee per post.  For instance, a writer might get $3 per post.  With a post being short, they will do pretty well.  If they can take on several customers and write for several blogs, they will be able to make at least a part time job from it.

So, if you are interested in writing, and love to blog, try to find a way to create an income from both of these things.  You can easily make money by being a master of the blogging world. You can gain fame as well as a worthy reputation as a good writer.

Affiliate Marketing: A Great Way for your Blog to Earn Money Easy

If you want to earn a living from blogging and selling merchandise online, you can build a business in affiliate marketing. While simple on the surface, you will have to do your part in making sure that your readers are buying products and services from the people who hire you or you won’t make money. When writing our blog, you do not want it to sound like an advertisement. Instead, you want to encourage people to look into the product you are selling so that they can decide if it is something they would like to purchase. This can take some savvy writing and a clever style of wording in order to achieve this goal. But if you are a friendly, conversational blogger, you should get the hang of it quickly.

There are two ways to find work in the affiliate market. You can advertise yourself as a marketing expert or you can start a blog and join a program like Adsense that will pay you a small fee for allowing company’s to post ads on your site. You can find more work by approaching these companies and seeing if they need affiliate marketing. Most companies will gladly say yes. You can incorporate the materials they give you about their products into your blog postings. You can also start other blogs that are considered informational blogs that will link from their web site in order to bring in more traffic.

Blogging has become very popular which is why it is being used many times for advertising purposes. Affiliate marketing can be very profitable if you have a blog that is read by a high number of people. When writing your blog, you should provide posts that are witty, funny, and entertaining. These will keep people coming back a few times a day. You can mention different companies in your ad to make sure that readers will click on the ad on your web page. This is how you will make your money.

There are other ways to market companies, but if you just want to stick to blogging, you can make a decent amount of money. You may have to switch companies every once in a while. This can be for various reasons. Their traffic has not seen any improvement and they don’t want to spend money on affiliate marketing, the company goes out of business, or you just want to write about something else. Companies may come and go, but you will always have your blog.

The main reason marketing companies go under is because they want to go into a different aspect of the business.  Many people realize that owning one of these marketing companies can be difficult and expensive.  In fact, if you are a great blogger the marketing company may be paying out more than they are earning.  This can be difficult for you, if you are enjoying the payouts and rewards.  However, all in all, there is likely another marketing company around the corner that is waiting for a great blogging writer like you to join up.  So, don’t think about quitting just because your favorite affiliate marketing company has called it quits.

Affiliate marketing is a growing business especially for those who already have established blogs. If you are just starting out with your blog, you may need to prove that you have a loyal fan base before a company will hire you. This will only take a few months of posting each day in order to gain an audience. Once you have done this, you can find work pretty easily. Blogging is a great way to communist with others, improve your writing skills, and make some money. If you can juggle two or three blogs at a time, you can make even more money.

You can hire a writer to help you juggle more than one blog, if you like.  Or you can make it a family affair.  Allow each person in your family to log on and create a blog once a day.  Then use the fame programs on their blogs as you do on your own.  This will allow you to create profits using the ideas and writing style of many different people.

BLOG RADIO - How to Increase Sales Through Streaming Audio

Many studies have proven that radio is a good medium for product advertisements.  People listen to the radio for entertainment, usually to listen to the latest music or to their favorite radio program.  In between the program, advertisements on products and services are being played.

For many years, this has been the trend in advertising.  But now that the radio medium is almost behind the audio-visual medium, the TV, and the Internet, other marketing strategies have to be employed to continue the benefits of advertising through audio.

It is then that the benefits of using music on websites were discovered.  Before, music on the Internet was just available in downloadable forms as mp3.  Even through hosting downloadable music on their servers, companies were able to get much traffic on their sites.  And everyone engaged in Internet marketing knows that website traffic plays a big role in boosting product and service sales.

However, there had been a problem with illegal music download in which artists, musicians and record companies have lost millions of revenues.

Then, came the popularity of Internet music streaming.  Unlike the former, radio streaming does not allow download of the music files.  Thus, the copyrights of the artists and record label owners are protected.

So, how can this be done?  There are several ways to stream audio from your site.  First, is to stream a radio program from your site or blog.  You can find free affiliate programs that allow you to stream their radio content from your site.

What will this mean to you?  This means that your site will have new audio content every time it is visited.  What's even great is that the content is being updated even without much effort from you.

In this case, what you needed to do is to signup with an Internet radio station and have the link embedded on your blog or website.

Another way is to stream mp3s.  To do this, you just need to upload your mp3files on a server and add the files' links to the page.  When the link is clicked, the browser opens a media player window and plays a file.  However, since the file is in mp3 format, it may also be downloaded.  Downloading music files without the authorization of the copyright owner is illegal.  Therefore, if you will be using this type of streaming, make sure that you have the appropriate permit to do so.

A third way to add audio to you blog or website is to stream music through organizing playlists.  Playlists are m3u files, which if downloaded, will not play music if offline.  Using this process, however, can be complex.  Here is a short instruction on how to do it.

1. Save your mp3 or wma file on the server.  You may skip this step if you know that the file exists on another server and know the link to that file.  Make sure that the link has a .mp3 or .wma extension.

2. Open your text editor and type the path to the file.   Include the http:// and the file extension.  Repeat this step until you have included all the links to the files that you would like to be included in the playlist.

3. Save the playlist with a .m3u extension.

4. Upload the m3u file on the directory where the music files are hosted or to your server.

5. Open your html editor and embed the link to the m3u file.  Through this, you can also set if you want to have the playlist to autoplay if someone visits your site of if you want your visitor to control playing the music.  You can also set the volume level.

After the code is embedded on the html file, and whenever your site is visited, the songs in the playlist will be buffered, streamed and played one after another.  If your playlist has several songs, the user can skip forward or go back a song in the playlist using the media player controls.

Doing this setup works for many website owners.  Through this you can customize the type of music being played on your site.  You can even play recordings related to your product to boost product awareness.

It requires knowledge of html to be done.  But if it will be the best way to increase traffic to your site, why not request assistance from programmers.  After all, having audio on a website is a proven way to increase sales.

Getting started with Videoblogging

Videoblogging is the next generation of posting ideas and products over the internet.  Everybody knows about textblogging. Now they use videos for a better way of expression. This form of communication may entail a lot of resources, but it is all worth it. If pictures say a thousand words, videoblogging exceeds that by far.

A videoblog requires larger disk spaces on websites, a faster server, and a whole new set of programs to support it.  Videoblogs can be fed through RSS. This is technology of syndicating your website to other RSS aggregators.

Videoblogging works with people on the internet expressing their selves. Now if you put this on a business prospective, you are up to a lot of benefits. Think of it as a powerful tool in making showing your prospective customers your line of products or your services. It’s just like showing a commercial all for free. And if you videoblog through RSS, then most probably you are getting your target market.

People like to see what they are going to buy. Some would like to see proof and be sure that they are getting their money’s worth before shelving their dimes on it.  All of us know the influence of a thirty second commercial. The effect of videoblogging is similar to that. You show your product, people watch it. If they like it, they buy it. If you present it good enough, they’ll buy the product even if they don’t need it.

Now on the web, things are pretty much static, unlike in television in which all are moving. If you post something that is mobile, it would most likely catch attention. Now imaging your product parading in all it’s royalty through videoblog.  You’ll get phone call orders in no time.

If your business is just starting up, you can create a videoblog right at your own home. All you need is your web camera, microphone, video software, and lights. For as long as you know how to use your camera, then you can create a videoblog.

Invest in a good web camera. The higher its resolution is the better the output. And you like to present your goods in the optimum way so get the best one possible. Make a short story, or just capture your goods in one go. Just make sure you are getting the best profile for each. Get those creativity juices flowing.

Lights are important in a production. Make sure you illuminate entirely the area you are going to use to create videoblog. The brighter the area, the crispier the images will be. You can also use lighting effects for added appeal to the presentation.

Should you require sounds for your videoblog, you need a microphone. Record you voice as a voice over for promoting the product and its benefit to consumers. Sounds are as important as videos on a videoblog.  It is advisable to make your sound effects as enticing as the video.

Your video editing software can be any program. You need this to finalize your work. You can add sounds, delete some bad angles, or insert some still pictures in there too. Some programs              are user-friendly and can be used even with zero knowledge on video editing. Even simple video editing programs should do the trick. Select your background carefully too. The light affects the presentation so make sure that the background and the light complements each other.

Videoblogging is a great tool but it also has it downside.  It may slow down the computer so other may steer clear of it.  Download time may also be time consuming especially if customer is still on a dial- up connection.

But don’t let those stop you. Let videoblogging be an alternative for you, though it is best to still keep the text and pictures present in your presentation to accommodate all possible viewers of your site.

Nowadays, the more creative you are in presenting your product to the market, they more you are likely to succeed. Videoblogging offers an interactive way of selling. You involve the customers. You instill in them the advantage of your goods.  And at times, those are enough to make a sale.

How to Blog Like a Pro & Profit Like a Guru

How many times have you heard the words blog or web log or how about online diary? If you have been active online for the past few years, you’ve probably heard it thousands of times.

What you might not realize is that blogging is not only one of the fastest and easiest ways to get indexed in search engines but it is also a huge source of income that is just waiting for you to grab your share.

Blogging has actually been around for quite a while but only up until the past few years have online as well as offline marketers, become aware of how powerful this medium is.

You can find plenty of free to very inexpensive places to start a blog. A few of the top rated blog hosting services are Blogger, which is owned by Google, Wordpress and Moveable Type. If you already have a web hosting account somewhere, that runs cPanel & Fantastic, then you're in luck, because Wordpress blog software is just a couple of mouse clicks away from installing on one of your domains.

The easiest to get started and set up would have to be Blogger.com, since they are not only free, but they have a very simple step by step process for creating your blog. The only downside to Blogger is that the features that they offer are very limited. The upside to Blogger is that it's owned by Google, which is not a bad thing at all, if you know what I mean.

The most common ways that most Internet marketers are making a profit from blogs is by integrating Google Adsense into their blog. This is very simple to do and Blogger makes it even easier for you. You can also insert many other contextual advertisements into the blog such as Yahoo, Kanoodle, Chitika and many others as well as any other affiliate links you may have.

The other benefit to blogging is also the ability to add back links to your blog that point to your other websites. This is very important since the more back links that you have coming inbound to your websites, the better you will rank for the keywords you are promoting. You will also have to setup the proper keyword anchor links in your blog and on the pages of your websites that the links are pointing to.

Let's look at a summary of what needs to be done in order to take advantage of blogging.

First, you need to setup a blog either at Blogger or one of the other online services mentioned earlier or create a blog on your own domain name & web hosting account.

Once you have your blog setup, it's time to start monetizing it by adding in contextual advertising such as Google Adsense and or affiliate links. Now add in some targeted keyword anchor links that point back to your other websites.

All you have to do now is post to your blog a couple times per week and make sure that you are pinging after you make your new post. Sending out a ping is a way to let the search engines know that you have new content on your blog. The search engines will come to crawl your blog and start indexing your new content and follow all those targeted links that point back to your other websites. Are you starting to see how powerful this is?

Now just keep posting to your blogs and if you keep up with it and continue to add new content on a regular basis, you'll start reaping the rewards of blogging.

To Your Success,
