for interviewing potential employees and a general
introduction to the Interviewing process.
The interview is the most imporant part of the
hiring process because it is your only one on one
contact with the employee which is what is going
to tell you if they are a good match for your
company.
Make sure that you take the interview seriously and
ask lots of good questions so that you can accurately
judge the personality of the potential employee.
If you’ve ever applied for a job, you’ve more than
likely been through this ordeal. It’s an ordeal for
the employer as well, but there are ways to make the
process go more smoothly.
Screening interviews can help you narrow down the
number of candidates in a brief period of time. This
can be done face-to-face, or over the telephone.
Another method of screening is via e-mail of web
forms. This is an excellent way to go because you’ll
have written records of candidate’s responses (and
find out if they have any skills at all with the
written language – which is becoming increasingly
rare).
If you run a large company, you may opt for a panel
interview. This gives everyone involved in the hiring
process a chance to meet the candidate and have input
on the decision.
Preparation is as important for you as it is for the
candidate. Additionally, if you fail to ask the right
questions – or ask the wrong ones – you may leave
yourself open to legal consequences.
Employment laws prohibit certain types of questions
during an interview.
You now have a basic understanding of how to
interview someone and what interviewing is meant
to accomplish in the hiring process.
Use these tips every time you are preparing for
an Interview to make sure that you are ready.
