Continuity sales are essentially sales that happen on an installment basis. One of the easiest examples of this type of sale would be a membership site where a subscriber is charged x amount of dollars monthly, quarterly or annually. It’s an excellent way to improve cash flow and to also track and manage it because you know or can reasonable predict your cash flow based on your subscribers.
Continuity can apply to just about any business model. For example,
Software manufacturers can use the continuity model to deliver continuous upgrades. Your antivirus software for example probably has an automatic renewal.
Membership programs can be structured for just about any product based or service based company, for example if you’re a coach you can offer a membership for elite customers who want an extra edge – a mastermind group perhaps.
If you’re a service based business you can offer a continuity program to customers who would regularly use your service. A virtual assistant for example can offer a package deal with 5 hours of administrative time for $150 billed monthly and if you don’t use your time one month you can roll it over with a maximum roll over of 10 hours. (That way the VA doesn’t have someone trying to use 60 hours of their time in December!)
Note – When using a continuity model make sure to be 100% upfront and transparent. You want your customers to know exactly what they’re signing up for, what it’s going to cost, when they’re going to be charged and how they can cancel.
