Work from home programs are in great demand with the coming of another year. Some people are looking to replace their day job, while others are looking to simply make some extra money to pay bills. After the holidays it's no surprise as many people have been forced to use their credit cards to pay for gifts, trips and normal bills.

Some are looking to create additional income so they can buy back some time. Many have a great desire to spend more time with friends and family. I can say that it is very enjoyable to be able to work from the comfort of your home.

Well, you might be wondering what types of work at home programs you could do.  Well if you have minimal typing skills, a computer and access to the Internet you can more than likely do the following programs:

1. Data Entry<br>
2. Type At Home <br>
3. Rebate Processing<br>
4. Online Paid Surveys<br>
5. Home Phone Jobs<br>
6. Chat room support

There are also programs whereby you can save money on the things you already buy monthly, which leaves more money for other things. You can share these programs with others and be paid a small affiliate fee. You would be surprised how many different ways there are to free up or create more income monthly. You have to be willing to try. Some people are not willing to change their buying habits. For those people the programs listed from 1- 6 are probably a better fit.

Many people tend to do multiple programs. The reason is, they can create multiple income streams and focus on the types of programs they enjoy the most.

Whatever you reasons or goals are, you can find at home work that will meet your needs. It takes some time and research. I  recommend either using a web site like mine, but not necessarily mine, that has done the research or be prepared to do it yourself. It must be done, as there are plenty of companies that will take your time and money giving you nothing in return.

Give yourself a chance; pick a good program, join and start working from the comfort of your home. Who knows you may be pleasantly surprised. I know I was and continue to be.

The time requirements for most work at home programs are very flexible and I found that you can normally do them at your own pace. The important thing to remember is that you will have to have the self-discipline to make sure you put in the work at home. Some people have to have a day job, but many do not. This is rather easy to achieve on the Internet. In fact many people managed to profit from this system in the 1990's when Google introduced AdSense and AdWords.  Many people (Mainly stock traders at first), immediately saw the potential for arbitrage in Google's systems and started driving traffic through Adwords ads to high paying Adsense ads on their sites from that very same traffic they were buying through Adwords.  HOWEVER . . . .

 

Using this system, many people became rich overnight. But after maybe 6 months, Google figured out about what these "Ad Traders", were doing and decided to ban this technique from being used through their advertising systems. Now all systems that are similar to Google's Ad systems got savvy to the arbitrage techniques.

 

Therefore it is very difficult nowadays to get any low cost traffic to high paying niche ad sites either from search engines, AdWords or any other system, because the search engine’s and Online Ad Firm’s systems are now programmed to ferret out Ad Arbitrage!  But I stumbled upon an even more efficient way to use the Advertising Arbitrage technique, which is even easier and less complicated.

 

Bidvertiser.com is the website I will be using here in my examples. I chose bidvertiser.com because it was so easy to register with them, and they are not so fussy about paying directly to your PayPal account on time every month.  I suggest using webwire.com for press releases to get traffic to your site, though you may alternatively use PRweb.com - As well you can use Bidvertiser.com and AdSense on your website instead of just Bidvertiser.com, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are driving traffic to your site with Adwords.

 

First, we want to break down the system that has proven to work for many other people into its basic components:

 

1.     Attracting traffic

2.     Monetizing your websites

 

It's as simple as that. You are going to pay someone to help you attract traffic to your niche website, and then you are going to monetize your web pages so that the traffic generates more income than it cost to generate.

let's talk a little about what Google Adsense is

and why you should consider using it to increase the revenue of

your online business.

 

Just in case you haven't heard about Adsense, it is the program

that Google uses to place ads from their Adwords program on

individual publisher’s sites.

 

These ads are contextually related meaning that wedding ads

appear on wedding sites and fishing ads appear on fishing sites.

If you already have a website or blog, it is not hard to start making

money with Adsense.

 

Adsense is a “fix and forget” residual income system. You simply

copy and paste the code (which is quite simple to do) that the

program provides you with and you can receive income as long as

people visit your site and click on the ads.

 

When it comes to placing advertising on your site pages there are

different options. You could sell or trade ad space or use banners

from different affiliate programs and it would probably make you

some money.

 

But, did you know that there are people who earn in excess of

100.000 dollars a year just by using Adsense?

 

Please keep in mind that a 100 thousand a year is not the

average income of every user. In fact there is probably a much

higher percentage of people that make little or nothing with this

program.

 

So the big question is, it really worth your time to place Adsense

ads on your site?

 

The answer is a definite yes. Especially if your site is already

receiving a fair amount of traffic to your website.

 

This can be in the form of a heavily visited blog or website or

having dozens or hundreds of sites that get a trickle of traffic. The

real game is getting the numbers whether it is to one site or many.

 

It's completely free to join the Adsense program and it almost

takes no time. The potential database of websites from AdWords

is larger than anything you might encounter from any competitor,

numbering over 150.000 users. This means as more people

compete the CPC or cost per click for search terms will inevitably

rise.

 

Also, setting up Adsense on your site is a breeze, and you can

complete the whole process in less than an hour. It takes a lot less

to do then any form of affiliate advertising which is yet another

reason to choose the easy Adsense  approach.

 

All you need to do is add an Adsense  banner on your website

(other then registering with the program of course) is to copy &

paste a few lines and you're all done, you get to choose where the

banners go, how large they are and how they integrate with the

rest of your site.

 

For any webmaster out there, that's a killer scheme because it lets

you draw the line between your site's usability level and the

amount of advertising you wish to have. Some people need the

money badly while others just keep Adsense  running to pay for

the hosting of their website.

 

Adsense  is a great advertising program because a lot of thought

has went into making it "just work for everyone". It works great for

the people who use AdWords, for the webmasters using

Adsense , and most importantly for the visitors of the websites.

There are still a lot of people out there who do not understand article marketing, nor the role that directories play.

For those who are not finding success with articles, or for those considering starting out, here are a few ground rules that will save you a lot of work in the long run and will likely get your article marketing career off to a much more auspicious start.

Read the article directory's specific terms of service and guidelines. This may seem like a boring, tedious and long winded waste of your valuable time but in the long term it will save you hours of frustration and wasted effort. All directories set their own rules and some are stricter than others. Most directories labor under a huge number of submissions and the work of sifting through them is often the job of one individual. This means that if your opening paragraph or introductory statement is poorly written or contains mistakes, that is as far as the editor will go before hitting the delete key. The luxury of time to edit an author's mistakes or to decline an article as opposed to deleting it, is one that most editors do not have.

Mass submissions are usually viewed as spam. Let's face it, none of us are capable of writing over 200 articles in a day - I would say that even producing more than ten would be a pretty amazing feat of productivity. It should come as no surprise to those submitting large numbers of articles in a 24 hour period to find that they are all deleted. Article directory software usually allows for quick erasure of such submissions, so if you don't want your work to fall victim to mass deletion, don't mass submit. All that is needed is a little common sense. If you are using a submission service, set the option to stagger your submissions over a longer period of time.

Proof read your articles. If you don't know what this means, look it up! If your writing is riddled with spelling errors, poor structure, punctuation horrors and grammatical butchery, don't be surprised if none of them get published. I could write thousands of words on the most common mistakes seen in people's writing. These usually involve spelling and grammar. Spell check your articles, even if you think you're perfect, you will often be surprised at the mistakes you make. If you tend to misspell a word regularly, you will never correct it unless you make yourself aware of it.

If you are of the opinion that these things don't matter (after all, people will know what you mean!) then think again. If you want to write and, more importantly, see your work published and picked up by other website owners and bloggers, you need to demonstrate an ability to write well.

As an example, all the "SEO experts" who talk about search engine optimisation (sic) but don't even understand that being able to spell their claimed occupation correctly would lend a little more credibility to their claims. Just for the record, most words ending in "ize" use a "z" and not an "s". This is a very common mistake, but it would be corrected by the use of a spell checker, as would so many others.

If you want to write with authority, you have to be able to exhibit basic literacy. Yes, this is important and should be borne in mind by those who eulogize about "the Queen's English", thus making themselves look even more foolish than those they chastise. (a good example of a word that does actually end in “ise”) Regardless of who is on the throne, it is always "the King's English".

None of us are perfect and this is not a lecture on grammar and spelling, no matter how needed it might be.

If you are tempted to use PLR articles, even if you rewrite them in an attempt to make them unique, remember that you will be competing with all the other shortcut seekers who are doing the same thing. It's another shortcut to the delete key for a lot of directories.

When it comes to the resource box, it is quite amazing how many authors defeat their entire purpose by making a mess of this vital section. If the article directory in question allows one, two or three live Hyperlinks, make good use of them. Think about your anchor text very carefully. In other words don't say......to find out more click here and Hyperlink the words "click here". The resource box is where you need to give readers a compelling reason to visit your site(s) but it is also the one place you can make the most of good keywords as the anchor text in your links.

Use the resource box wisely and take full advantage of everything the directory is offering you by way of promotional tools. Adding your URL without making it a live link is a pointless waste of time if the directory allows you to use Hyperlinks in your resource box. Conversely, adding more than the quota of permitted links will probably result in deletion of your work.

Another thing to watch is linking directly to affiliate programs. Read the directory's policies on this point or again, you may well find yourself on the cutting room floor. Many directories will stipulate that you may only link to affiliate programs indirectly by referring readers to your own site or domain. Some do not allow straight redirect links either.

Relevancy is also an issue here too. In other words, submitting a PLR piece about gardening and linking to your MLM program is not very helpful or wise, just one more recipe for deletion.

I should finish by saying that yes, you can churn out badly written articles to your heart's content, just don't be surprised at the results.

Okay, fine.  The market is having some troubles.  What do you do?  Do you cower in fear, doubt, and uncertainly like the masses or do you…please forgive me for the cliché; do you make lemonade from lemons?

It’s true.  Right now we’re living in some pretty uncertain times financially speaking.  However, there’s always opportunity.  The online world is still thriving.  In fact, it’s growing.  The self help and home based business is booming!  The investment market is actually thriving – people are anxious to learn how to invest their money, protect their money, and still live the same quality of life they’re used to. 

Warren Buffet just invested 5 billion into Goldman Sachs.  Of course he had 5 billion to invest in the first place but this is a guy who isn’t casual with his money.  And he just invested 5 billion in what many would consider the most unstable sector in the world. 

Why?

He sees an opportunity.

It’s what successful entrepreneurs do.

Successful entrepreneurs are typically risk takers.  Not blind risk takers who jump into a pool of hungry sharks without looking first. 

Instead, they spend a bit of time evaluating the risk and then deciding whether it’s worth jumping in.  That doesn’t mean that every single light is green and it’s 100% okay to make the jump, or investment.  But it means they know what they’re getting into.  They understand the risks.

Along with understanding the risks, successful entrepreneurs understand, and look for, opportunity.

Think about Amazon, Paypal, and even the folks over at MySpace.  They saw a potential opportunity and took some very big risks – boy did they pay off. 

Despite what the mainstream media will have you believe – those opportunities are still available.  The only difference between five years ago and today is the collective consciousness – if the media is telling everyone that the economy is good and invest, invest, invest – the collective buys into it and boom – everyone and their brother are taking huge risks with the comfort that the financial guru they saw on CNN the other night said it was a good thing to do – the economy is great.

Now the same financial guru is telling everyone to buckle down.  Save money, don’t spend.  Hold tight to your investments.  Don’t take any risks. 

And the collective conscious believes it.  They hold tight to their money.

The result…missed opportunity.

Assuming you do your homework, analyze the market, and understand the risks – the risks are the same as it was 5 years ago.  The opportunities are the same.

What is required to recognize and take advantage of these opportunities?

A good attitude is a must.

A good attitude means you’ve established the desire to be wealthy.  Now that may sound very simplistic.  Everyone wants to be wealthy, right?  No, not really.  Some people are quite content at their current income level what ever it may be. 

And many of those who do desire great riches let other desires, beliefs and myths about money get in the way.  Napoleon Hill outlined six steps to achieving Desire as it relates to attaining wealth.  They are:

#1  Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire.  (This is very much part of the visualization and goal setting process and is critical to success)  At first you may think, “Oh okay, I want a million dollars.”  Then you’ll think, “No, this is a visualization exercise, right?  How about six million dollars?”  Then the doubts will start to enter your mind and you may drop down to $100,000.  The goal here is to let go of those limiting beliefs.  If you want six million then fix that amount in your mind. 

Perhaps you need to do a little bit of thinking, meditating, or even planning on how much money you want.  That’s fine.  Take your time.  It’s important that you’re comfortable with the number you’re seeking.

#2  Determine exactly what you are willing to give in return for the money you desire.  It’s the old you don’t get something for nothing philosophy.  This is actually a great way to help let go of your limiting beliefs about money particularly if they relate to money being inherently bad.  What would you do if you achieved the monetary goals you’ve set forth?  Will you donate a specific amount to charity each year?  Will you volunteer your time?  Will you employ people and offer a great salary and benefits package?  What are you willing to put out there?

#3  Establish a specific date for receiving or earning the money goal you’ve established.  Tomorrow, right?  You’d like that six million dollars tomorrow, please.  Okay, now step back and consider what may be more reasonable.  Not too reasonable mind you, you probably don’t want to set your goal 20 years in the future however 12 months isn’t unreasonable is it?  Neither is six months, or even three. 

#4  Carry out a plan to begin – Mr. Hill recommends taking action whether you are ready or not.  You can’t spend your life planning, it’ll just pass you by.  So how are you going to make this money?  What’s going to happen or change in your life to make it happen?  Are you going to write the next Harry Potter?  Are you going to develop a software product or game that sells out all over the world?  What skills, talents, and knowledge do you have, or you have access to, to make it happen? 

#5 & #6  Create a written statement for the first four actions described above and then read it aloud twice a day. Once when you’ve just woken up and once before you go to bed.

This process as it was laid out by Napoleon Hill in 1937 and supported by wealth coaches, personal coaches, professional coaches and mentors all around the world, may seem a bit simplistic at first glance.  However, upon implementing it you will see it has a very powerful effect on not only your attitude but your motivation as well. 

Visualization is a technique that successful people in all walks of life utilize to improve and to achieve their desired results.  It doesn’t matter if you’re a stay at home parent who aspires to build a six figure business or an Olympic athlete – visualization and establishing a desire to achieve are a necessary first step to real success and wealth. 

An economic downturn matters.  Of course it does.  However, where there’s the desire to succeed, where there’s openness to success, wealth, and the power of opportunity, there’s a real chance to profit – desire is the first step.

So if that is the case, then it is important to know how to draw readers to your blog. There are a number of ways to increase the readership of your blog. Here are four tips that will help you to increase your blog readership that are easy to do and will definitely pay off for you.

First of all, to increase readership you would want to increase the number of pages each reader is seeing. You don’t want to be judged only on your last post, but rather on the whole of your work. To that end, try highlighting related posts within your blog. At the end of an article, highlight posts that may be of interest to those who like the current post. Most blog platforms are fitted with plug-ins that will help you with this, but if they are not, then go ahead and at least list the links to other pages manually. Another similar idea is to highlight the related posts within the content of your post. If you are talking about a subject you have discussed before, link off of one of the keywords into the past post that is related. This will also help a past post to maintain its freshness.

A second tip for increasing your blog readership is to think about doing a series. A series is a great way to keep a reader coming back again and again. In addition, if you are linking back, you can get readers looking at multiple posts even after you are done with the series. Be careful when doing a series, because you do not want to frustrate readers. However, if you have a topic you genuinely think you should handle over a period of time, then a series can really help your overall readership. If you are curious as to whether or not a series is working for your blog, then check posts. See if readers are posting through the series to see if they are following you. If they are, then your series is a success and you are only helping your blog readership.

Another way to increase readership is a little more “controversial” if you will. You can try putting excerpts on the front page of your blog from certain posts. Many people claim it is just a way to get more hits on your site. The truth is that extra hits are a little side benefit of it, but the real value is that it can make your site more engaging. By adding excerpts to the front page you can manage the front and keep it fresh while also teasing those who get that far into reading more than just your most recent blog post. This will encourage a prospective reader to explore your blog site a little more than they may have normally. Again, you want to be judged by the whole of your work, or at least by a larger piece of your work than just one post and this will do that. If your writing is up to par, then, you will see a rise in your readership.

Finally, if you really want to build and increase readership, you have to have good quality content. It should be useful, original, and interesting to your target audience as well as keeping them wanting more of the same. The more you raise the quality of your blog’s content, the more you will see your membership, readership, and page hits go up without even having to use any other “tricks.” People know what they like and they like quality for the most part. Giving the readers what they are after is probably the best way possible to increase your blog readership.

Having a blog can not only be fun, but if you are doing it right it can also be profitable. Either way, though, you want to maintain and increase a following, or readership. There are as many tips out there to increase blog readership as there are blogs, but to really get things going, consider using these four tips. Follow them and you will see your readership grow.

Yes.  In fact, the more sites you have displaying Google Adsense ads, the more money you will make.  You don’t even have to notify Google of the new sites.  Make sure though, that any new site you add conforms to Google Adsense Program Policies, because if your account gets terminated for any reason, you would not be able to display the Google Adsense ads on any of them.

All you have to do is copy and past the same ad layout code you previously copied and pasted to your original site.

The same rules apply when adding an Adsense for Search box to your new site.  Simply choose all the parameters from the choices displayed, copy the code to the new site or new pages within the old site.  As in the beginning, Google’s webcrawler will detect the code and you’re all set.

It should also include information on the competition in the designated market area. This information should include ways that the new home business will be successful in competing – how it is unique and how it is an improvement over what else is out there in the same industry.

A successful home business is one that is set up as the right legal entity. One of the first things new home based entrepreneurs should do is learn the legal consequences and liabilities of the various business types, as well as the tax consequences of each. A home business might be more successful as a partnership than sole proprietorship, for example, if additional cash flow is needed, or the entrepreneur is deficient in a crucial home business skill such as advertising, marketing or accounting, for example. An accountant can advise on the various options such as limited liability corporations, S corporations, standard corporations, limited partnerships and so forth.

Unless a successful home business is going to include walk in customers homeowner’s or renters insurance should provide adequate financial protection against theft or natural disaster. Of course, as equipment and furnishings are added, the insurance would need to increase. If clients were to come to the home office location, liability insurance would protect the firm from the financial devastating situation of customer injury.

A successful home business is one that is well planned and well funded. There is no such thing as too much preparation.

 The lifeblood of any Internet marketer is their list. If you have an opt in email list then you are sitting on piles of cash, if you properly use your list then your earning potential is very high.

As many people ask "How do I build a list?" the following points describes some of the best ways for building your email list.

1) Newsletter / E-zine

We are in the Information Age and so people are desperate for information. Everyone is so busy with their lives they don’t have time to find the information for themselves. Publish a newsletter in your niche that is full of valuable content and you will get people flocking to you to sign up.

2) E-Courses

People are hungry for information, so a free e-course will persuade people to part with their email address. Create at least a seven part course that is delivered every few days into their inbox. Of course, the e-course also subtly sells your product!

3) Articles

Write articles and distribute them to article directories. Include your newsletter sign up in the resource box and if you have provided good quality content, you will get the visitors who will sign up to learn more.

4) Free Books

If you have a website about a topic you enjoy, you can make money from discussion forums. Talk, post links to your site, get traffic. Traffic means money, right? If not, try different affiliate programs or Google Adwords. The worst sites should get a couple cents per visitor. Now here's how to talk and make money.

Search "forum" plus the topic of your site on Google or Alta Vista. For my first site, I searched "backpacking + forum" and in the pages of results I found several good forums. I also searched related topics like "hiking" too. You can also check about.com, and other sites that have forums on many topics.

Registration is usually giving your email address and choosing a password. Some forums allow guests to post without registering. Once registered, browse the forum topics, and post a response to anything, just to "learn the ropes".

Income From Discussion Forums

The point of posting in forums is to get readers to come to your web site. Sure it's fun to give advice and discuss things of interest to you, but that's secondary. With that in mind, do the following:

1. Always link to your site. If they don't allow any links, find another forum.

2. Don't "spam." Sales pitches will be removed. Offer honest advice, or express an opinion, then sign off with your name and the link to your site.

3. Ask for help from others. This is an effective and acceptable way to "advertise." Enter a topic like "Can I get some advice?" and post something like, "I just started a meditation site. If some of you would visit and tell me what you think, I'd really appreciate it." Have a link to the site. People love to help, and to give  opinions, and they'll click on those ads while they're at your site.

4. Look at total "views." Many forums show the total times each "thread" has been viewed. When you see some with many more than others, get in on those, or start a new thread on the same topic. Go where the traffic is, and get some of it.

I didn't like the idea of forums until I made a few posts, and saw my traffic and revenue climb for days afterwards. That convinced me. Just be polite, offer some value to others, and always have a link to your site. Many other secrets of using forums are covered in my newsletter, but this should be get you started. Wealth creation involves a slew of different concepts that can only contribute positively to your life. In the hustle and bustle of a fast lifestyle, people seem to forget the different methods that make individuals successful. For some people, they just lose the perspective to apply the different success methods. When people lose focus and tend to view the small details as part of their success pattern, then the goal loses its value. That is why it is important not to forget the different personal concepts that govern wealth creation.

Having a Wealthy View

Financial abundance and wealth creation is a real and tangible idea. But there is a critical condition to it. In order to grasp the ideas of wealth creation, one must take the view of the rich and the wealthy. To have a wealthy view is to have the mindset of a millionaire.

Wealth creating mindset sees the world in a different light. That fundamental principle allows successful people to adapt to different problems while finding fresh methods to attack the blocks that hinders them from achieving their financial goals. They find optimism when an ordinary optimist says no. They also find encouragement in defeats. Most importantly, they find opportunities when it is most invisible. The key to create wealth is therefore to master personal concepts to develop a wealthy perspective.

Where most people find nothing, wealth creation entails finding value in things. However, the most successful wealth creators not only find value. Instead, they create it! In order to create or increase one’s value, wealth creators increase their own individual value first. Wealth creators realize that in order to succeed, one must always exceed even their own expectations. An adaptive mindset that creates value wherever he goes will find himself very important element in a successful enterprise. .

Wealth creation also entails seizing opportunities. In leadership terms, we call it initiative. Individually, we can call it being proactive. A proactive person finds things to do when others see it as free time. They do not wait for opportunities to bite them. Instead, they come biting at opportunities. Once you become a proactive person, you will suddenly find that opportunities come at you at a much faster rate, giving you way to create more wealth.

If you do not follow your passion, wealth creation is not fun. Wealth creation is hard enough of a process. If you feel that these activities are routine and boring, you will be gasping for air before you get halfway there. The most successful people will usually tell you that they love what they are doing. They will even go far as saying that they will do the things that they love even though they won’t get paid for it. Once we find our passion, everything becomes easy and you will be on the top of the wealth creation chain in no time.

Saving is involved in wealth creation, and that means foregoing what we can spend now for later. While the concept of “delayed gratification” seems easy, only a few people can heartily apply it. Delaying gratification allows us to see into the future and believe that there is a better value for happiness if you save gratification. With the savings compounded over time, wealth is created. Removing instant gratification from our habits will ensure that money always goes wherever they need to go.

Finally, creating wealth involves moving forward. Improving oneself in every aspect and knowing that are different ways to be a better person is a mindset that will help people in the long run. As they say, Rome is not built in a day. We must learn to account each small action and find ways to improve ourselves.

Wealth Creation is not an exercise or a method. Instead, it is a revamp of your current lifestyle to a life that produces a sense of accomplishment. This way we are able to move forward feeling very confident. Wealth Creation is a journey not only of our economic standing but also of our overall happiness.

Opt-in marketing requires the permission of customer before you are allowed to send or promote any marketing materials, usually in newsletters form delivered via e-mail. The more targeted opt-in marketing mail is sent, the more chances there is to generate sales and more sales. To do this, you must build a list of all those who are interested in your niche and wants to subscribe to your opt-in marketing list.

From your list, you will get your targeted customer, this is a good list since they already have shown interest in what you have to show and sell since they have willingly signed in for your list. These are the people who have liked what they have seen in your site and have decided they want to see more and maybe even purchase what ever product or service your site has to offer.

Many people would think that building their lists would take hard work and a lot of time to build and collect names and addresses. This is not so, it takes a bit of patience and some strategies but in doing this list, you open your site and your business to a whole new world of target market. A good web form for subscribing to an opt-in list is not hard to do. Just write a simple short statement about how they would like to see more and get updated about the site. Then there should be an area where they could put in their names and e-mail address. This web form will automatically save and send you the data’s inputted. As more people sign in, your list will be growing.

2) As mentioned in the first tip, make your homepage very, very impressive. You need to have well written articles and descriptions of your site. Depending on what your site is all about, you need to capture your website visitor’s fancy. Make your site useful and very easy to use. Do not expect everyone to be tech savvy. Invest in having good programming in your site, make your graphics beautiful but don’t over do it.

Don’t waste your time making the homepage too overly large megabyte wise. Not all people have dedicated T1 connections, the faster your site gets loaded, the better. Go for a look that borders between simplicity and sophisticated knowledge.

3) Provide good service and products. A return customer is more likely to bring in more business. Even then and now, a satisfied customer will recommend a business always. Word of mouth and recommendations alone can rake in more business than an expensive ad. As your clientele roster grows so shall your list. With more members on the list, the more people will get to know about what you have new to offer.

4) Keep a clean and private list. Never lose the trust your customers have entrusted you. If you provide e-mails to others and they get spammed, many will probably unsubscribe to you. Remember, a good reputation will drive in more traffic and subscribers as well as strengthen the loyalty of your customers.

The easiest way to be found on the web is to be listed in the search engines, such as Google or Yahoo.  You can easily do this by paying to be seen by using Google Adwords or Yahoo Marketing.   This can be effective, but expensive.

Ultimately, you want to have your website to show up naturally on the front page of the search engines.  Follow these 8 simple steps towards optimizing your website and you will see a positive difference in your website ranking.

1.  Comprise a list of search terms you want people to find your site with.  For starters, this should be 3-5 word search strings.  i.e. McDowell Mountain Ranch Real Estate or Toledo Organic Dry Cleaners.  Something that is specific to your business or hobby.

2.  Load your website with original content.  Take the time to write the information in your own words.  Search engines will not give you credit for someone else's work.

3.   Add the key words from item 1 to your content on several different pages of your website.  For example, it is better to have 500 pages with your key words listed once than to have 1 page with your keywords 500 times.

4.    Know your target market.  Write content that will interest them and bring them back for more.

5.   Add fresh content daily or as often as possible.  Ideas to keep your site fresh include blogging, writing articles, interviewing people, and adding polls or RSS feeds.

6.   Keep your site for an extended period of time.  There are many sites that come and go on the world wide web.  The longer your site is around, the higher the search engines will rank you.

7.  Drive people to your website by sending out flyers, sending out mailers, emails, writing articles, blogging, linking to other sites and gaining as much exposure as possible.

8.  Submit your site to the search engines on a monthly basis.  There are many search engine submission websites. Some are free and others charge a fee.  Google "search engine submissions" to find one you like. Either way, you must submit to the search engines or your site will not be seen.

As your site ages and gets more information, you will see a higher ranking for your website.  This does not happen overnight, but by consistently adding information, you will create a website that provides value to the end user.  And ultimately, that is what the search engines are looking for… Providing good information that the end user wants.

We've all heard it... "Content IS King" and for good reason because it IS as far as the Internet is concerned.

And when it comes to web surfers, they come online for two reasons, One is to check there email and reason number Two is to search the web for "Information".

How do you think the Internet received the reputation as the "Information Super-Highway"?

Because thats what its primary purpose was before they decided to commercialize it to what it is today.

And... what do 'Articles' contain?

The answer is quite simple... "Information".

So, what does this have to do with you?

Be the one who supplies it.

It's that simple.

Now, for the rest of this article I'm going to give you 10 POWERFUL reasons WHY you should and/or need to get started using 'Articles' as one of your online marketing strategies so you too can reap the benefits.

With that said, lets move on to reason #1.

Reason #1. Search Engines LOVE them.

It's no secret that Search Engines LOVE content, so if you supply it on a regular basis your giving them a great reason to stop on by to take a look around.

Many people often asked, “Why am I not getting sales, nobody is signing up, I am not making any money, what is going wrong?”

Something is actually wrong. You see, when you’ve developed a product, registered a domain name, hosted your site, and solved issues like payment processor, you have to wait for the money to start rolling in—only then you will know the value of traffic.

No matter how beautiful your site or how crazy your product, without traffic your online business will fail. Generating traffic is the most difficult part of running an online business. But why is getting traffic so difficult? There are two main reasons.

The first reason is that online is not like the real world where you can rely on mere shop display. If you don’t make any calculated sales drive, people cannot find your site. The second reason is that the Internet has changed.

Internet advertising keeps advancing with many kinds of filters to make sure the right audience sees the right message. That is, to make sue you don’t disturb people who don’t want your ads. Traffic providers like Google can easily tell “junk” content from “real” content even if the surfers cannot. Nobody wants to give you the chance to succeed online.

There are about 6 billion people on the planet with about a billion using the Internet but sadly most sites have little traffic and make $20 to $50 a month. So how does one really get traffic?

•    Pink:  femininity, love, tranquility in the positive, but weakness and inhibition in the negative.  Pink can be soothing and attractive, but can be draining and overdone very easily.  Avoid using it unless it clearly matches and represents your brand.

•    Brown:  seriousness and warmth in the positive, but lacking in 'flavor' or taste in the negative.  Strong browns can be helpful as accents, but a site completely done in brown can indicate boredom or lack of creativity.


Using powerful color combinations is very helpful when choosing the layout of your blog, and most blog platforms offer 'color combos' so you make the right choice.  If you are designing your palette from scratch, just remember the principles of each color's psychological impact and proceed accordingly.

Pay attention to how they send emails and how they sell products. Although this doesn't really give an accurate picture of what's going on behind the scenes with this persons business, some aspects do seep through the emails and you will be surprised at what you learn.

If you have the budget, I recommend buying some of their products if possible or joining their network marketing company if that's what you're learning about.  This allows you to learn how they treat new members, how they handle customer service and what kind of follow-up techniques they use.

Successful people have many things in common. Learn to take advantage of this. Don't just track one person, buy one person's products, subscribe to one email list and learn from one person. Subscribe to 5 to 10 lists and buy from the ones you are really interested in learning more about.

Over time you will start to build a real picture of what it takes to be successful. You'll begin to understand what decisions they make, how they act, how they react, how they present their products and more. The more you know about multiple successful people, the brighter and more obvious pattern of success you'll begin to see and be able to follow, and you will also be more able to avoid the false indicators along the way.

Start now by looking for 5 to 10 successful people in your online business field of interest, subscribe to their lists and just watch. Soon you will understand why certain ads work, why they write in the style they do, what they do to get people to take action, who they work with, and who they avoid.

Once you've done your research on top paying niches, you've already gotten started on a good foot. It doesn't mean you'll end up with high paying advertisements though, even if you use Google. Ok you're first hot trends blog is set up and ready for visitors to come and read your content and hopefully click on your money making links.  So let's get some visitors. Obviously we want all we can get in a short period of time.

Since we can't really count on Google to index out blog within 24 to 48 hours, so we can start seeing some traffic from organic searches, we need to build some back links to our blog that will generate traffic to our post from people interested in the content.

But for our Purposes:
The initial traffic boost comes from people using Social Bookmarking sites INSTEAD of search engines. Why? Because millions of people have learned that people who are actual users and not machines do a much better job of categorizing topical RELEVANT information than search engines do.  Not that they have stopped using search engines all together, but they have found that their favorite social bookmarking site(s) are a viable resource.

Some Hot Trends Linger
When a hot trend lingers (Stays hot for a week or 2), back links from popular sites to your hot trend blogs can make a significant difference. How does Social Bookmarking build or generate traffic to your hot trends blog? The top (PR-5 and above), Social Bookmarking sites are very popular and therefore just getting your blog URL, description of your content and tags (Keywords), generate traffic from the social bookmarking sites themselves.

Google sees links coming from the more popular sites as having more weight when listing your blog in search engine results.  If you have done your hot trends research right, there will be some ongoing interest in your hot trend topic..

Free listing is available with some major search engines such as Google, AltaVista, and WebCrawler. As stated earlier, even after submission of your website, a listing is not guaranteed. Generally, it takes up to 2 to 3 months to be listed after submission (Though we will get into some ways around that later). A recent research concluded that the audience potential for websites submitted through free search engines is about 59%.

Some search engines charge a nominal fee for every URL submitted. You are more likely to get favorable results by submitting your website to a search engine with paid inclusion. Ask.com is the most popular search engines in this category. Once you submit your website with these Search Engines, your website is most likely to be listed within a week. The Audience potential for paid search engines is 100%.

Search engines generally list pages of ten to twenty results per page. Most search items will return thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of results. The key, however, is to get listed among the top 20 results if you expect to get any significant traffic through search engine results.

There are two methods of submitting your URL to Search Engines. One is to use Search Engine Submission services such as “WPromote.com”, or Microsoft Submit! Again, consider your budget. Another is to submit your URL by submitting it individually to popular Search Engines and thus avoiding the fee charged by submission services. The prevailing counsel is that manual submissions should be made to the top five search engines or so and one could use automatic submission services for the rest. However, do your home work by Comparison shopping.

It is possible to submit your URL to search engines for free. At the same time, you have to keep in mind that there are premium programs offered by some search engines that assure listing or provide better positioning in ranking. Some use of paid listing programs is recommended if you wish to receive serious traffic on your website from the search engine immediately. Paid Listing Programs are explained later in this chapter.

Free submission could result in much lower traffic, a low rank and positioning amongst the results returned, and a longer period of time before your website actually shows up in the results returned by the search engine. Also there is no guarantee that your website would be included with these free services. To avoid these issues some search engines offer “paid participation” that guarantees high traffic and ranking for a fixed fee per year.

Formulating a Search Engine submission budget is crucial. It should be such that you have the best possible combination of free submission, paid submission and paid placement programs. Again, that’s if you can afford paid submissions.

How much would you like to spend on this exercise? If the budget is limited, options such as some of the paid programs, advertisements, expensive directory listings will have to be forsaken and attention given to getting the best results from limited but focused efforts.

The key is to strike a balance between free and paid programs that yield maximum ROI. You should submit your website to all the free search engines such as Google, AltaVista, and WebCrawler, and Yahoo Directory ($299 a year). Apart from these, you should think of submitting your website to a couple of “paid participation” or “paid placement” programs such as Google Adwords and Overture, which are discussed later.

Google is probably the most widely used web spider/crawler search engine. One way of letting Google automatically detect and include your web page URL is as discussed in the above paragraph. Submission to Google through its free listing program can be done using the Add URL form available at: http://www.google.com/addurl.html

Do not overlook: GOOGLE Webmaster Tools

 

Having mentioned that, there is no guarantee that Google will include a web page submitted to it by either of the free methods. Also, it might take as long as a month before Google lists your web pages. (But pay close attention to a way around this later in this course.)

Google has advertising program called Adwords that offers you a combination of paid listing and positioning of your pages in search results. Paid listings in Google appear above and to the side of its regular results. These are discussed in detail in the section on Paid Placement programs.

Google allows maximum 5 to 10 web pages from a website to be submitted per day.

Other web crawler search engines with both free as well as paid submission services are discussed below. The free submission method for these search engines is very similar to those described in the case of Google.

Fast Search’s paid submission service cannot be accessed directly by you.

 

Fast Search also provides Bulk Program wherein you can add thousands of web pages at a time. A small fee is charged every time someone clicks on your web page listing.

This is owned by Ask Jeeves, (Same as Ask.com), one of the popular search engines. Additional pages can be submitted at $18 per page. Paid service can be accessed at:

As discussed with other search engines, free submission might take more than a month until your web pages show up. An automatic submission through submission software may not work with this URL, as it requires insertion of a specific code that is displayed on entering the submission page.

This is the basic submit service which enables the clients to add or remove up to 5 URLs at a time from the AltaVista global database. URLs will generally be evaluated within four to six weeks of submission. Basic Submit is a free service. As discussed with other search engines, free submission might take more than a month until your web pages show up. (There is a way to significantly reduce that wait time we’ll talk about later.) An automatic submission through submission software may not work with this URL, as it requires insertion of a specific code that is displayed on entering the submission page.

Fortunately, there are ways to verify and whether your site has been listed or not. This is described in the section on “verify and monitor listing”.

Directories are very popular and are widely used by people as a source of information. Web crawler search engines may also have better chances of finding your website if it is listed with any of these directories. Most of the directories charge a fee for listing your website. Some sites such as Yahoo offer free submission as well.

An important aspect of submitting your website to a directory is to have a 25 word or less description of the website. This allows the web crawler search engines to efficiently find and include your website.

Yahoo and Open Directory Project are some of the most popular directory services on the World Wide Web.

Yahoo provides two submission options: Free submission known as “Standard” and paid submission known as “Yahoo Express”. The free submission cannot be used for commercial websites. Also, with free submission there is no guarantee that your website will be approved for submission.

Submission of commercial websites can be done with Yahoo Express that has a fee of $299 per year. Although a majority of websites are accepted in this category, note that, paid submission also doesn’t guarantee acceptance of your website. It only ensures an answer whether your site was accepted or not. For non-commercial websites there is a one-time fee of $299.

For submission of free non-commercial websites you will have to fill out a submission form that is displayed once you click the “Suggest a Site” link at the bottom of each category. In case of paid commercial websites you would have to fill out the submission form that can be accessed at

LookSmart provides listings used by the very popular MSN Search service and AltaVista. Hence, like Yahoo, it is essential that you submit your website to LookSmart. LookSmart also provides two options for submission: Free submission for non-commercial websites and Paid submission for commercial as well as non-commercial websites.

LookSmart paid submission charges you a nominal fee every time a click is registered against your website. In other words it is Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising.

Once your website is approved for submission, you can submit your website by using the “Manage” link at the top of each of the categories.

Having your website listed with Open Directory is essential. It provides results to Google, AOL, and Netscape Search. Open Directory DMOZ doesn’t have a paid submission service. Commercial as well as non-commercial websites can be submitted to Open Directory absolutely free of cost. DMOZ however, has its drawbacks.

There is no guarantee if and when your website will be approved for submission. Having mentioned that, Open Directory does generate high traffic for your website, once approved. Thus, submission to this directory is worth the uncertainty involved.

Submission can be done by using the “Add URL” link at the top of each of the categories. Generally, if your website is accepted, it would appear within the directory in about three weeks’ time. If rejected, there is no limit to how many times you can resubmit your website.

These are three most important Directories on the World Wide Web. Getting your site listed on each of these is a must as it can lead to a significantly large audience for your website.

The maximum length of the Title of the website should be 60 characters for Yahoo and 100 characters for Open Directory DMOZ.

Description of your website is essential for submission to any Directory. The maximum length of this description for Yahoo is 25 words or 200 characters and 25 to 30 words for Open Directory.

Yahoo requires that you submit the Title, Description, Your name and Email for website submission, whereas Open Directory only requires the Title and Description of the website.

Yahoo allows a maximum submission for one category per website; LookSmart and Open Directory allow a maximum submission for one category per URL.

There are currently hundreds of search engines out there, most of them are not much more than an advanced FFA (Free for All link) pages. You should not submit your site to each of these. The best strategy to follow is to use automated submission software as discussed earlier for the Search Engines that are less popular, while hand submitting to the top 5 to 10 Search Engines.

Beware of the ads such as 'submit to the top 500 search engines for only $99', because generally only the top 10 will drive traffic to your site. It doesn’t take much time to manually submit to these top engines and your $99 could better be spent on overture.com or buying ads in e-zines or whatever.

Not to mention the fact that these sites actually might get you in big trouble because when they say that they will submit you to 500 search engines, what they usually mean is that they will submit you to a few search engines and a few hundred FFA and classified pages. These pages are overrun with garbage, pornography and horrible content that you don’t want to be associated with. They also have bad rankings from Google and if Google deems that your site has a bunch of links from FFA pages, they may doc your sites ranking for it.

This is why it’s important that you watch where you submit your sites and keep you focus on high quality submissions so that you rankings increase and the links you get are valuable to the search engines that are ranking you.

This one tip for taking extreme care in where you allow your site to be submitted could save your bacon when it comes to getting listed and attaining high rankings through the use of high quality links.

At the moment the top ten search sites - meaning both directories and search engines account for just over 93% of all search engine traffic. The other 6 something% is made up of hundreds of sites claiming to be search engines. Even at that the 11th - 15th biggest search engines make up most of that figure. So what are the search sites you need to concentrate on? Some of the top search engines are discussed above. There are a few others which are also quite popular. The following is a suggested list of the top 5 search engines and directories.
