Can you afford it?

To determine if you can afford your WAHM venture, first do a budget and figure out what your base living expenses are each month. Does one income cover that expense? If not, do you have enough in savings to cover the difference if need be for the first few months of your WAHM business?

If one salary isn’t enough to cover the expenses, do you have savings that you can pull from if necessary? If not, consider working a few more months while putting as much as possible in the bank.

Before you take the plunge, also consider what kinds of start-up expenses there will be for your business. Can you afford to make that investment? Remember that some start-up expenses are tax-deductible, but you still have to be able to make the purchases and investments now.

Can you handle it?

Working at home is often harder that it might appear initially. While the idea of working at home could hold some romance for you, the reality is that it’s much harder for most people than they initially realize, especially when there are child rein the house.

So ask yourself if you will be able to find the time and quiet to effectively work at home. Think about the kind of job you’ll be doing. 2. Have a mentor. Find someone who has gained the experience in this field. Beg, crawl, wash their car, do whatever takes to become their student. Listen to their advice and learn from their failures and successes. You'll save yourself a lot of time, effort and money not to mention heartache and disappointment.

3. Find a hobby, a 'pet' project, something you are interested in and would do without payment or rewards. If it gets you excited, keeps you awake at nights thinking about it, it will provide you with opportunities to make money from it too. For example, once you have a project/activity that you live for, be it surfing, stamp collection, video games, mobile phones, you could start a local club. Once the club is established you can start a club website. Once the website is up and running you can introduce products to promote the club and your project/activity. You get the picture? You probably have seen the film 'Pay it forward'. Well, you can use the same principle in establishing an online business. Give something valuable first and then you'll get your opportunities to reap your rewards.

4. Promote and automate your project website. Once you completed step 3 above and your site is up and running you want to be able to promote your club site to 'outsiders'. You don't have to get technical and bogged down in programming or writing strings of HTML code. There are brilliant software out there to do a lot of 'skilled' tasks with the push of a button (both free and commercial products). Learn to use them well! Promoting your website should be your priority from now on. Get as many people to come to the site as you can and automate this activity. Start a newsletter to keep in touch with your members and provide them with free advice, tips and news on the subject of your project/activity. And again, automate this too. Get software to automatically distribute your newsletters and automatically sort any emails you get in reply to your posts. Set up autoresponders signup new members and to respond to email queries; automate, automate, automate...

5. Once you have enough members and you have an established, loyal group of followers, you can introduce your promotional products and other services that you now want to sell and make money from as a business. You'll have to be gentle and do this bit by bit. You may also find it useful to have another, separate, commercial site for this purpose and simply direct your members there from your 'signature files' or 'letterheads' you send out as part of your club newsletter. By now you should have enough experience in setting up and running a website from step 3 above. If you did have a separate commercial site you run a smaller risk of offending 'purist' club members.

6. Review the operation of your site, experiment and test the effect of site layout, content, headlines etc. Review and look for opportunities to further automate anything that you can to make your site 'self-sustaining'. If you do this you should be able to get yourself more free time to actually enjoy your hobby/project and to go out and look for more new material (advice, tips and news) that you can send out to you members. Once you have a website running and are making money out of it, it is very easy to forget that without new content and looking after your members your business will not survive. So make sure that the time you have freed up by automating your processes, you put back into searching for and providing fresh content and keep on provide a service to your members and keep in mind that they are members because they share your enthusiasm for the hobby and not for your business. Find a gentle balance between that hobby and your commercial interests.

This is rather easy to achieve on the Internet. In fact many people managed to profit from this system in the 1990's when Google introduced AdSense and AdWords.  Many people (Mainly stock traders at first), immediately saw the potential for arbitrage in Google's systems and started driving traffic through Adwords ads to high paying Adsense ads on their sites from that very same traffic they were buying through Adwords.  HOWEVER . . . .

Using this system, many people became rich overnight. But after maybe 6 months, Google figured out about what these "Ad Traders", were doing and decided to ban this technique from being used through their advertising systems. Now all systems that are similar to Google's Ad systems got savvy to the arbitrage techniques.

Therefore it is very difficult nowadays to get any low cost traffic to high paying niche ad sites either from search engines, AdWords or any other system, because the search engine’s and Online Ad Firm’s systems are now programmed to ferret out Ad Arbitrage!  But I stumbled upon an even more efficient way to use the Advertising Arbitrage technique, which is even easier and less complicated.

Bidvertiser.com is the website I will be using here in my examples. I chose bidvertiser.com because it was so easy to register with them, and they are not so fussy about paying directly to your PayPal account on time every month.  I suggest using webwire.com for press releases to get traffic to your site, though you may alternatively use PRweb.com - As well you can use Bidvertiser.com and AdSense on your website instead of just Bidvertiser.com, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are driving traffic to your site with Adwords.

First, we want to break down the system that has proven to work for many other people into its basic components:

1.     Attracting traffic

2.     Monetizing your websites

It's as simple as that. You are going to pay someone to help you attract traffic to your niche website, and then you are going to monetize your web pages so that the traffic generates more income than it cost to generate.

let's talk a little about how you can start building

a large network of friends, clients, associates, and customers

using the social networking website Twitter.

Many new users of Twitter are constantly asking how they can use

the site more effectively for their business and since the site has

grown into an Internet mega monster that is globally known and

talked about, they are right to ask. The fact is Twitter is a fantastic

tool for your IM business.

Internet relationships are very different from actual personal

relationships. They are based primarily on like, know, and trust.

Many people are reaching out to others through social network

websites like Twitter, Facebook and many others.

If you are new to Twitter you may not realize that you can create

your personal or business brand and virtually dominate your

market, simply by building a list of followers.

Let's talk about some of the ways you can you achieve this.

Once you've set up your Twitter account you will want to work on

your profile. This way you can quickly customize the look and feel

of your page. You will want to pay close attention to your one line

bio. Because this is what people will read before they decide

whether or not they want to follow you. You will only have 160

Don't be shy tell everyone you meet about your Twitter page. Make

click the follow button just to see what you're up too!

Another thing that I feel that is important especially for Internet

marketers is to seek out and follow the ‘gurus’ and the powerful

users of Twitter. This will benefit you in more than one way. It will

give you a bird’s eye view of what they’re doing on Twitter, so you

can learn how to improve your own results and it will also put you

in front of all the people they are in contact with.

Curiosity, you can't fight it, so you may as well take advantage of

it. People are curious by nature! They like to see who is following

who, so often they will click on the links and check out the followers

of people they know and follow them as well and by following the

leaders, so to speak you may naturally end up will new followers

as well. Just try and keep your target market in mind when you

choose ‘gurus’ to follow.

Now let's talk about meeting even more people and making

hundreds of new friends by using 'retweet’s’.

With this method, you take the original twitter message someone

else has posted, and rebroadcast that same message to your

followers. When broadcasting the message, you should definitely

give credit to the original poster.  I know at first it may sound like

this will only be good for the original tweeter, but retweeting can

actually benefit you just as much if not more because;

1.  It provides more value to your followers.

When you provide value to your followers, you make them happy!

You are also more likely to attract followers. Providing quality

content is always a great way to build your business no matter what

platform you use.

2. It will benefit your brand.

If you point a reader to a source if good information that is truly

relevant and beneficial to them, the amount of trust that they have

in you will increase.

3. It will help you build relationships with the original posters.

Retweeting someone else’s content is an act of kindness, and for

the most part bloggers like to return the favor. You shouldn't expect

someone to retweet your content just because you retweet theirs.

Just keep in mind that your chance of being on the other end of a

retweet increases as you retweet.

Retweeting is all about providing value to your followers so if you

want others to retweet your post then you want to make sure that

you are providing them with quality content worth tweeting about.

The bottom line is retweeting is a great way to add quality and

value to your Twitter page. If done right, retweeting can help you

educate your followers, build your personal brand, increase future

traffic, and connect you to other great people in your niche.

Just be careful if you use it incorrectly, retweeting can actually hurt

your personal brand and future traffic. You want to treat your

followers like gold. Don't ever send them to inappropriate

websites or spam them with one sales pitch after another.

Remember you want them to like what you have to say, so they will

follow your lead. Then when you do recommend something to them

you will get the results you are looking for every time!

Just in case you haven't heard about Adsense, it is the program

that Google uses to place ads from their Adwords program on

individual publisher’s sites.

These ads are contextually related meaning that wedding ads

appear on wedding sites and fishing ads appear on fishing sites.

If you already have a website or blog, it is not hard to start making

money with Adsense.

Adsense is a “fix and forget” residual income system. You simply

copy and paste the code (which is quite simple to do) that the

program provides you with and you can receive income as long as

people visit your site and click on the ads.

When it comes to placing advertising on your site pages there are

different options. You could sell or trade ad space or use banners

from different affiliate programs and it would probably make you

some money.

But, did you know that there are people who earn in excess of

100.000 dollars a year just by using Adsense?

Please keep in mind that a 100 thousand a year is not the

average income of every user. In fact there is probably a much

higher percentage of people that make little or nothing with this

program.

Also, setting up Adsense on your site is a breeze, and you can

complete the whole process in less than an hour. It takes a lot less

to do then any form of affiliate advertising which is yet another

reason to choose the easy Adsense  approach.

All you need to do is add an Adsense  banner on your website

(other then registering with the program of course) is to copy &

paste a few lines and you're all done, you get to choose where the

banners go, how large they are and how they integrate with the

rest of your site.

For any webmaster out there, that's a killer scheme because it lets

you draw the line between your site's usability level and the

amount of advertising you wish to have. Some people need the

money badly while others just keep Adsense  running to pay for

the hosting of their website.

Adsense  is a great advertising program because a lot of thought

has went into making it "just work for everyone". It works great for

the people who use AdWords, for the webmasters using

Adsense , and most importantly for the visitors of the websites.

There are still a lot of people out there who do not understand article marketing, nor the role that directories play.

For those who are not finding success with articles, or for those considering starting out, here are a few ground rules that will save you a lot of work in the long run and will likely get your article marketing career off to a much more auspicious start.

Read the article directory's specific terms of service and guidelines. This may seem like a boring, tedious and long winded waste of your valuable time but in the long term it will save you hours of frustration and wasted effort. All directories set their own rules and some are stricter than others. Most directories labor under a huge number of submissions and the work of sifting through them is often the job of one individual. This means that if your opening paragraph or introductory statement is poorly written or contains mistakes, that is as far as the editor will go before hitting the delete key. The luxury of time to edit an author's mistakes or to decline an article as opposed to deleting it, is one that most editors do not have.

Mass submissions are usually viewed as spam. Let's face it, none of us are capable of writing over 200 articles in a day - I would say that even producing more than ten would be a pretty amazing feat of productivity. It should come as no surprise to those submitting large numbers of articles in a 24 hour period to find that they are all deleted. Article directory software usually allows for quick erasure of such submissions, so if you don't want your work to fall victim to mass deletion, don't mass submit. All that is needed is a little common sense. If you are using a submission service, set the option to stagger your submissions over a longer period of time.

Proof read your articles. If you don't know what this means, look it up! If your writing is riddled with spelling errors, poor structure, punctuation horrors and grammatical butchery, don't be surprised if none of them get published. I could write thousands of words on the most common mistakes seen in people's writing. These usually involve spelling and grammar. Spell check your articles, even if you think you're perfect, you will often be surprised at the mistakes you make. If you tend to misspell a word regularly, you will never correct it unless you make yourself aware of it.

If you are of the opinion that these things don't matter (after all, people will know what you mean!) then think again. If you want to write and, more importantly, see your work published and picked up by other website owners and bloggers, you need to demonstrate an ability to write well.

As an example, all the "SEO experts" who talk about search engine optimisation (sic) but don't even understand that being able to spell their claimed occupation correctly would lend a little more credibility to their claims. Just for the record, most words ending in "ize" use a "z" and not an "s". This is a very common mistake, but it would be corrected by the use of a spell checker, as would so many others.

If you want to write with authority, you have to be able to exhibit basic literacy. Yes, this is important and should be borne in mind by those who eulogize about "the Queen's English", thus making themselves look even more foolish than those they chastise. (a good example of a word that does actually end in “ise”) Regardless of who is on the throne, it is always "the King's English".

None of us are perfect and this is not a lecture on grammar and spelling, no matter how needed it might be.

If you are tempted to use PLR articles, even if you rewrite them in an attempt to make them unique, remember that you will be competing with all the other shortcut seekers who are doing the same thing. It's another shortcut to the delete key for a lot of directories.

When it comes to the resource box, it is quite amazing how many authors defeat their entire purpose by making a mess of this vital section. If the article directory in question allows one, two or three live Hyperlinks, make good use of them. Think about your anchor text very carefully. In other words don't say......to find out more click here and Hyperlink the words "click here". The resource box is where you need to give readers a compelling reason to visit your site(s) but it is also the one place you can make the most of good keywords as the anchor text in your links.

Use the resource box wisely and take full advantage of everything the directory is offering you by way of promotional tools. Adding your URL without making it a live link is a pointless waste of time if the directory allows you to use Hyperlinks in your resource box. Conversely, adding more than the quota of permitted links will probably result in deletion of your work.

Another thing to watch is linking directly to affiliate programs. Read the directory's policies on this point or again, you may well find yourself on the cutting room floor. Many directories will stipulate that you may only link to affiliate programs indirectly by referring readers to your own site or domain. Some do not allow straight redirect links either.

Relevancy is also an issue here too. In other words, submitting a PLR piece about gardening and linking to your MLM program is not very helpful or wise, just one more recipe for deletion.

I should finish by saying that yes, you can churn out badly written articles to your heart's content, just don't be surprised at the results.

Whether you are selling advertising, a product, or just your own set of ideas, you want as large a readership as possible with most blogs. So if that is the case, then it is important to know how to draw readers to your blog. There are a number of ways to increase the readership of your blog. Here are four tips that will help you to increase your blog readership that are easy to do and will definitely pay off for you.

First of all, to increase readership you would want to increase the number of pages each reader is seeing. You don’t want to be judged only on your last post, but rather on the whole of your work. To that end, try highlighting related posts within your blog. At the end of an article, highlight posts that may be of interest to those who like the current post. Most blog platforms are fitted with plug-ins that will help you with this, but if they are not, then go ahead and at least list the links to other pages manually. Another similar idea is to highlight the related posts within the content of your post. If you are talking about a subject you have discussed before, link off of one of the keywords into the past post that is related. This will also help a past post to maintain its freshness.

A second tip for increasing your blog readership is to think about doing a series. A series is a great way to keep a reader coming back again and again. In addition, if you are linking back, you can get readers looking at multiple posts even after you are done with the series. By adding excerpts to the front page you can manage the front and keep it fresh while also teasing those who get that far into reading more than just your most recent blog post. This will encourage a prospective reader to explore your blog site a little more than they may have normally. Again, you want to be judged by the whole of your work, or at least by a larger piece of your work than just one post and this will do that. If your writing is up to par, then, you will see a rise in your readership.

Finally, if you really want to build and increase readership, you have to have good quality content. It should be useful, original, and interesting to your target audience as well as keeping them wanting more of the same. The more you raise the quality of your blog’s content, the more you will see your membership, readership, and page hits go up without even having to use any other “tricks.” People know what they like and they like quality for the most part. Giving the readers what they are after is probably the best way possible to increase your blog readership.

The number one factor that makes or breaks your website is whether or not people can use it.  This is typically referred to as your website’s usability.  It seems simple: if people can’t do what you want them to do (buy things, subscribe to things, request a call, etc.), they won’t do it.  Yet, because websites are so easy to change, several companies just create websites, web applications, e-newsletters, etc., and hope that the changes will help their business. 

What further confuses this is typically a lack of clear insight into your website’s performance.  For example, how well does your website convert visitors into buyers?  What are the key decisions that visitors must make on your website?  Do you give them the information and tools necessary to make those decisions?

This article will help you focus on 3 proven techniques for improving your website’s performance: website analytics, usability testing, and personas.  Exactly how you choose to implement these techniques is obviously up to you.  However, one thing is guaranteed: all three techniques help you get closer to the people who visit your website: their needs, their desires, and their behaviors.  This information is critical if you plan to optimize your website’s usability to achieve your goals.


<b>1. Measure Progress with Website Analytics</b>

Many companies mistakenly install a standard “website statistics” program and only get a group of standard reports.  Typically, these reports do very little to help you judge the true effectiveness of your website. 

Want to get a jumpstart on creating your own website analytics?  Just follow these 3 simple steps:

1.    Begin with the end in mind – start with your objectives.  Define your website marketing strategy objectives (i.e. “Increase the number of qualified prospects coming from web search engines”), and what you want your website visitors to do to reach those objectives (i.e. “See our listing in the top 10 in Google and click on it)
2.    Get in touch with your visitors’ behavior on your website.  Track how many unique visitors you get, and how long they stay on your site (including how many pages they view).  You want all of these numbers to be going up, since that means you’re getting more visitors who are staying on the site longer.  You are maximizing the odds that they will do what you want them to do.  
3.    Develop your conversion rate.  Track how many visitors do the key action you want them to do and compare this number to your total visitors.  This helps you determine your conversion rate.  For example, if 15 out of 100 visitors requested more information from you (and that is one of your objectives), then your conversion rate for information requests is 15%.

Once you have these key website analytics in place, you can start to evolve your tracking and look for trends to optimize for.  Here are two examples:

•    Let’s say you notice higher conversion rates on weekends.  Then you might want to spend more on online advertising on weekends and reduce your spending during the week. 
•    Let’s say you need more visitors and embark on a search engine optimization project to improve your rankings.  Then you can track the increase or decrease in visitor flow from your project’s activities.

Regardless of what you want to achieve, getting to website usability first starts with solid website analytics.  Why?  Because website analytics force you to identify those areas that matter most, and identify how well or poorly you are doing in them.  Once you know this, you are armed with key data that can help you focus your efforts and determine where things like usability testing can help the most.
 

<b>2. Leverage Usability Testing</b>

Usability testing is where you take people who would use your website, and actually watch them using it.  Typically, you ask the person to do things on the site, and you watch either over their shoulder, behind a one-way mirror, or via a second computer where you can see what’s being recorded on the test computer. 

It’s amazing how many things you can make better on your website just by watching people use it.  Yet, as you get into it, you may find that hiring a usability professional for a testing project can be unnecessarily expensive.  Usability professionals are helpful, since they typically have substantial expertise in planning and conducting tests, as well as interpreting test results.  However, usability testing does not have to be fancy or formal: people are going to give you their opinion whether you’re sitting in a research company or at Starbucks.  So be careful when hiring a professional that seems to make the testing process complicated or costly.  When someone does this, it’s usually only for their own financial gain. 

To successfully conduct a usability test, just follow these 5 steps:

1.    Define your objectives.  Begin with the end in mind.  What do you want to accomplish with this usability test?  Do you have specific areas of your website that you want to improve?  If so, this is a great way to get ideas on how to make those areas better.  Are you planning on rolling out a new area of your website?  A usability test is a great way to do a “trial run” before the big launch.
2.    Recruit the participants.  This will take the most time, and can be the most frustrating part of the test process.  You have to find people to participate (which can be tough, particularly if you need to match specific demographic profiles), and then you need to schedule them.  Then, some will cancel, some won’t show, and some will be great test participants.  The best way to get a feel for the person is to talk to them directly more than once over the phone.  TIP: Be sure to call the person the day of the test to remind them about it. 
3.    Script the test.  You’ll want to have an intro script, the test script, and a post-test survey.  The intro script serves as a checklist of things you want to be sure to cover with the person before you start the test.  TIP: During the part, try to focus on making the person feel comfortable giving their opinion, and reiterate that any feedback is good feedback.  The next part, the test script, is a checklist of the actual things you want the person to do.  This is followed by the post-test survey, which allows you to ask the person questions, and later compare those answers to what they said during the test.
4.    Conduct the test.  This is the fun part!  You sit down with the person, and walk them through the test scenario.  Some tests benefit from close “hand holding,” while others benefit from letting the person do whatever they think is right.  It completely depends on the objectives, and they information you want to collect.  In either case, the best thing to do is to record both the person and what they do on the computer.  TIP: Be sure to compensate the person for their time.
5.    Report the results.  The best way to report the results is two-fold:  First, do a quick, one-page or less recap of each session immediately after the test.  That way, the information is still fresh in your mind.  TIP: Include a picture of the user in your recap, since it will help make that person’s feedback “come alive.”  Next, take the information collected during testing, and create 1 to 4 “personas” – user profiles that explain the type of person, what they need from the website, what issues they encounter frequently on the site, and what can be changed to help them.  This will help you explain the results to others, and you can reuse these personas later when you are adding or updating areas of your website.

How many people should I test? 
For most usability tests, you can learn the maximum amount by only testing ten people.  Too many more and you’ll start to see too many recurring patterns.  If you go less than ten, you might miss things or not see enough of a pattern. 

 
<b>3. Develop Personas</b>

Let’s face it - no one reads a 20-page usability report from cover to cover. It just doesn’t happen. Usually, key decision makers ask for “recap” presentations, and then “latch on” to one or two key points from the study, quoting that point over and over again.

This presents a great opportunity: why not give those key decision makers something memorable?  Enter personas. 

Personas are a way to get everyone involved thinking about the actual people who visit your website.
What Personas are:

Fake people based on real data

A practical tool to maintain focus on your target customers

A way to make your data come alive and be more memorable


What Personas are not:

Every possible customer profile

“Made up”; they are created from real data, like usability test results

A replacement for existing ways we design and build our web site


Reporting user tests as personas is a great way to:

   1. Get key decision makers on board with the persona concept
   2. Communicate web site issues in the context of the people actually using your site

Creating personas from usability testing data is time-consuming, but very valuable.  Just look across the data for key trends: what common roles, goals, and actions do you see?  Can you group the feedback along those things?  You’ll quickly start to evolve a handful of personas which can be refined over time.  Add a name and a few pictures of that “person” and you’ll be on your way to creating a more user-focused website experience.

Again, exactly how you choose to implement these techniques is obviously up to you.  Even small steps can make a big impact.  You don’t have to have super-sophisticated website analytics, test your website with 100 users, or develop extremely detailed personas.  Every step you take in these three areas, no matter how big or how small, will help you get more from your website, and your website marketing strategy.

 Have you ever wondered just what it is about affiliate marketing.  I mean it is boasted you can make an ultimate winner income of about $100,000 a year from affiliate marketing.  Or are the 90% of internet marketers correct that are not making money saying your wallet is just swiss cheese with your money just floating through it.  I am not sure myself, but here in the last month I have signed up more than 550 total between three affiliate down lines, and 1000 people in my email list.  

Swiss cheese wallets seem to be the 90% that are not making money with affiliate programs.  People are just watching money drain from their wallets with no results what so ever.  People pay for pay – per - click advertising with Google Adsense, and purchase expensive email leads, and have no success what so ever.  Some Adwords pay – per - clicks can get very expensive.  Good leads can be very expensive depending on who you buy your leads from.  Just to have no luck in making sales, and building down lines.  So is it worth the trouble involved?  Yah, I will be the first to say residual income from an affiliate program down lines is great, who wouldn’t say it isn’t.  But, the expense you have to pay is absolutely, outrageous.  How do the ultimate winners do it.

The ultimate winners on the other hand boast of $1,000. ‘s of dollars per month from sales from affiliate programs.  But, how in the world are they doing it?  Are they using some so called new super Google Adwords program?  No.  Are the ultimate winners purchasing super leads from some secret source? No.  Than what is the difference?  Can anyone just lay it on the line, and tell us how to become ultimate winners!  Can anyone teach us how to prevent the swiss cheese wallet?    

The answers!  The questions to be answered are not elusive.  The internet is full of the answers to building down lines, and the six figure incomes.  The key to understanding the answers is who do you listen too, and study to build those massive down lines and six figure incomes.   Do the gurus have the answers?  Some of the gurus have been on the internet for 10 years, and have established down lines, and email list of 1,000’s of people.  Those same gurus have the credibility almost like Mother Teresa!  

So, than how has the big money earners done the same thing?  Earning millions of dollars with only 2 to 3 years on the internet.  These people have accomplished earning millions of dollars from affiliate programs.   Well, now if you just spend an evening surfing affiliate programs by the truly successful people you will discover they are all doing the same methods and tactics.   I have an idea, but you gotta get it from me; for free.  Yes for free!

Your affiliate marketing business is just that … a business. To be successful, you need to treat your business like a business and focus on growth. Your affiliate links are your business; you are the owner of a marketing company, and it is an asset you can grow into more and more assets. Here are three strategies to build your marketing business.

1. Get your own website and domain name.

It looks cheap and marks you as a “newbie” when you post a long affiliate link in your ads. With domain names as inexpensive as they are now you can purchase your own domain name. You can then either forward your URL to your affiliate link or set yourself up with some free hosting and establish more of a web presence. Your best bet is to write a benefit-full description of your affiliate program and link to your program via an HTML link that is part of your description.

2. Build your own list.

Stop relying on one-shot ads to make you money. Real businesses have repeat customers that they cultivate in order to make more profits. You must do the same. Make a commitment to establish relationships with your customers and especially with visitors to your site. Create an email list to keep in touch. Send out periodic tips or articles and focus on helping your customers. Only promote your affiliate links in unobtrusive ways; don’t make your emails one big ad.

One of the best ways to build traffic to your list is to write a short report that describes the benefits of your affiliate program. Make this report available only by email. When someone sends for your report, they are added to your list and you can continue to communicate with them.

3. Build traffic to your own site and list.

This is where you really make your affiliate links your own business. By having your own site and building your own list you are building your own business and brand, not just marketing someone else’s. By doing this, you can market to your own customers over and over again. Do not overlook this point: When your ad redirects a customer to your affiliate link, you have lost that person as your own customer because you lost the ability to communicate with them on a repeat basis. When you direct customers to your own site and list, they build a relationship with you.

There are many ways to build traffic: write articles, post in forums, market in safelists, advertise offline, etc. My advice is to pick one traffic-building method, work on it for awhile, and master it before moving on to something else. If you focus on offline advertising, write and rewrite your ads until you determine how to get the best response. If you market on safelists, make a list of the top 50, and send your ad to 10 each day. Keep testing to make sure your safelists are responsive.

These three strategies will help you build and grow your affiliate marketing business.

It must include details on the products and services the firm will offer, the type of business equipment and the cost of it that will be needed in the coming five years. It should also include information on the competition in the designated market area. This information should include ways that the new home business will be successful in competing – how it is unique and how it is an improvement over what else is out there in the same industry.

A successful home business is one that is set up as the right legal entity. One of the first things new home based entrepreneurs should do is learn the legal consequences and liabilities of the various business types, as well as the tax consequences of each. A home business might be more successful as a partnership than sole proprietorship, for example, if additional cash flow is needed, or the entrepreneur is deficient in a crucial home business skill such as advertising, marketing or accounting, for example. An accountant can advise on the various options such as limited liability corporations, S corporations, standard corporations, limited partnerships and so forth.

Unless a successful home business is going to include walk in customers homeowner’s or renters insurance should provide adequate financial protection against theft or natural disaster. Of course, as equipment and furnishings are added, the insurance would need to increase. If clients were to come to the home office location, liability insurance would protect the firm from the financial devastating situation of customer injury.

 The lifeblood of any Internet marketer is their list. If you have an opt in email list then you are sitting on piles of cash, if you properly use your list then your earning potential is very high.

As many people ask "How do I build a list?" the following points describes some of the best ways for building your email list.

1) Newsletter / E-zine

We are in the Information Age and so people are desperate for information. Everyone is so busy with their lives they don’t have time to find the information for themselves. Publish a newsletter in your niche that is full of valuable content and you will get people flocking to you to sign up.

2) E-Courses

People are hungry for information, so a free e-course will persuade people to part with their email address. Create at least a seven part course that is delivered every few days into their inbox. Of course, the e-course also subtly sells your product!

3) Articles

Write articles and distribute them to article directories. Include your newsletter sign up in the resource box and if you have provided good quality content, you will get the visitors who will sign up to learn more.

 The first strategy to make money online is building a list.    

This strategy is the most important step to continue to make money long term. If you do not already have some type of auto repondersystem you need to get one. Don’t be cheap here either because your entire business will hinge on this one piece of software. 

 You can build your list many different ways. You can buy leads from reputable list building companies and get them into your autoresponder. Most good list building companies will have an option to send an email to your autoresponder so you don’t have to manually input the lead’s information. 

 Another effective way of building your list is from the traffic that visits your website. This step, which is probably the most effective,does require you to have a website in order to implement an opt-in list form. Of course if your Affiliate program does offer a list management service then you can send traffic to the affiliate URL, but I don’t recommend it as you will usually not be able to email the entire list with special offers.   

To make the most of your opt-in form and get the most signups, you should place it in your sales page text. It should be strategically located in the sales text after you present a problem. The title of your autoresponder email series should address the problem by offering a solution. In the example below we will assume that I am selling a hosting package and I want opt-in subscribers to my email course for back-end sales.

The second strategy to make money online is driving traffic to your website.

When I say traffic, I don’t just mean any old traffic, Imean targeted traffic, people who are motivated and ready to buy can and willmake you money. You can use programs and techniques such as Google Adwords,bloging, article writing and linking to drive targeted traffic to your website. GoogleAdwords is a resource offered by Google in which you can payfor your site to be show when certain keywords are queried in their searchengine. 

The secret to using Adwords is not to bid high on popular keywords. Instead,what you do is find similar keywords that still describe your website, but are usedmuch less frequent. These keywords will cost much less to bid on and will allowyou to spread your money out over many different keywords, getting the most bangfor your buck. You can use this handy little tool to find similar keywords:http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/   

Blogging is another great way to drive targeted traffic to your website. To get the most out of this techniquethe blog should be hosted on the same website as the sales page witch links toyour affiliate program. Once its setup all you have to do is fill your blog with good quality content.   

I recommend writing your own content which specifically relates to your affiliate program and or products. Once you have some content you will need to submit your RSS feed to the as many blog search engines as youcan. This will put your blog out there for other webmasters to use as content feeds on their websites.  

This win-win situation allows webmasters to have quality content on their website, which increases the value of that website while driving targeted traffic directly to you. 

This is done by the URL link that you conveniently placed under your name after the blog was written. That means that your link is on a blog feed that is on thousands of websites. Not only do people click those links but Google sees these links pointing back to you and thinks that you’re popular and you are rewarded with a higher page rank.   

Article writing is basically the same as blogging except the information in an article will need to have more useful content and be peppered with keywords that the webmasters are looking for. After completing your article you will submit (syndicate) it to content sites as opposed to blog search engines.  

Content sites are places where webmasters go to find specific content to offer their readers. If you are a good writer you may at some point build up a name for yourself and finagle a deal with a webmaster to write exclusives for his site. His readers get great exclusive content and you get highly motivated targeted traffic.  

Linking is perhaps the most widely used form of increasing traffic and page rank. However, if done incorrectly you could end up hurting your Google page rank and ultimately loosing potential buyers. You will need your own website for this technique as you will need a ‘links’ page to place your reciprocal links on.   

Many people go and submit their URL links to link farms in an attempt to trick Google into giving them a better page rank. This does NOT work; in fact Google has been known to penalize websites for engaging in these activities.   

The secret to linking is to find websites in your niche market which have a Google page rank of 4 or above and enticing the webmaster to list your link on their website. You may think that you would be helping your competition, well you would be. But your competition would be helping you as well. It’s better to send leaving traffic to a partner than just having them close their browser window, and remember that works both ways.     

The strategies listed in this article do work and they will increase you sales and residuals it done correctly. Reciprocal linking, Blogging and Article writing are great ways to bring massive amounts of high quality targeted traffic to your website. Those strategies combined with an effective sales page with an integrated opt-in email list can make your business soar to new heights. You can and will make money with this system, Guaranteed!

Many forums are tremendously popular with search engines and so not only rank well but also are regularly crawled. Most forums offer an introductions area as well as a signature area where you can promote your web site or sites. In addition, as you participate in a forum that is relevant to your site's topic there will likely be opportunities to work your site into conversation. If you have a website about a topic you enjoy, you can make money from discussion forums. Talk, post links to your site, get traffic. Traffic means money, right? If not, try different affiliate programs or Google Adwords. The worst sites should get a couple cents per visitor. Now here's how to talk and make money.

Search "forum" plus the topic of your site on Google or Alta Vista. For my first site, I searched "backpacking + forum" and in the pages of results I found several good forums. I also searched related topics like "hiking" too. You can also check about.com, and other sites that have forums on many topics.

Registration is usually giving your email address and choosing a password. Some forums allow guests to post without registering. Once registered, browse the forum topics, and post a response to anything, just to "learn the ropes".

Income From Discussion Forums

The point of posting in forums is to get readers to come to your web site. Sure it's fun to give advice and discuss things of interest to you, but that's secondary. With that in mind, do the following:

1. Always link to your site. If they don't allow any links, find another forum.

2. Don't "spam." Sales pitches will be removed. Offer honest advice, or express an opinion, then sign off with your name and the link to your site.

3. Ask for help from others. This is an effective and acceptable way to "advertise." Enter a topic like "Can I get some advice?" and post something like, "I just started a meditation site. If some of you would visit and tell me what you think, I'd really appreciate it." Have a link to the site. People love to help, and to give  opinions, and they'll click on those ads while they're at your site.

4. Look at total "views." Many forums show the total times each "thread" has been viewed. When you see some with many more than others, get in on those, or start a new thread on the same topic. Go where the traffic is, and get some of it.

I didn't like the idea of forums until I made a few posts, and saw my traffic and revenue climb for days afterwards. That convinced me. Just be polite, offer some value to others, and always have a link to your site. Many other secrets of using forums are covered in my newsletter, but this should be get you started. Below are some important things to consider when planning on a pay per click campaign:

1. Know your product.

Take an inventory of the product and/or services that you have to offer (before anything else).

2. Stay within the budget.

Determine your daily or monthly budget; and stay with it. This means keeping your budget in mind, avoiding bidding wars if possible.

3. Bid just right.

Know how to bid right - a bid that is too high can exhaust all of your money, while a bid that is too low can make you lose that spot.

4. Watch the bottom line.

Measure your profit margin against your spending or expenses. Know when to stop and terminate your PPC program - if you spend more on advertising but have little or no sales at all.

5. Find the right keywords.

Decide which keyword phrases to opt and bid for. Invest in having good programming in your site, make your graphics beautiful but don’t over do it.

3) Provide good service and products. A return customer is more likely to bring in more business. Even then and now, a satisfied customer will recommend a business always. Word of mouth and recommendations alone can rake in more business than an expensive ad. As your clientele roster grows so shall your list. With more members on the list, the more people will get to know about what you have new to offer.

4) Keep a clean and private list. Never lose the trust your customers have entrusted you. If you provide e-mails to others and they get spammed, many will probably unsubscribe to you.  Avoid Scams that Target Work at Home Mums

Working from home is a fantastic way for moms to earn some extra money and still watch the children. Every woman who wants to become a Wahm has traveled down the same path. Unfortunately, that path is littered with scams and traps to take money and time from honest women looking to make money from home. With a little common sense and extra research, you can find legitimate work at home opportunities.

The first step is to search for jobs in the right places. Don’t simply click on ads to find work. Try to find helpful groups of Wahms who have successful work at home jobs to guide your search. You can try searching on message boards or finding e-mail groups for ideas of where to start your work at home job search. Many of these women can give you insight into which work at home opportunities are actually worth your time.

Keep in mind that there are no real ways to get rich quick on the Internet or by working at home. The only people who get rich are those who are scamming others. Never believe an ad or an “employer” who claims that you will get rich instantly.

There are also a few red flags to look for when you are searching for Internet jobs. You should never have to pay for work or job lists. There are plenty of free listings available that can provide tons of work at home opportunities. Companies that want to charge you for lists of jobs are just trying to get your money. The lists are often filled with dead job leads, or lists of companies that want to charge you money. Many work at home scams will also require you to pay a start-up fee or cover the cost of “necessary” training. Again, legitimate jobs will never require you to pay them any money for you to work.

Another warning sign is if the ad or website tells you to “act now.” You should always do research before joining a company and never feel pressured to make a decision right away. Many websites are set up with text that says that the offer will expire on today’s date. But if you revisit that website the next day, the ad says that the offer expires on that day.

If you are unsure about a company, do some research on the Better Business Bureau website. The BBB has files on all businesses that have had complaints filed against them. You can see what other people have to say about a particular company and be steered away from scams.

There are some scams that have been around for years that should be avoided at all costs. These business scams have unfortunately been successful for the scammers, so they continue to take the money and time of hardworking Wahms. If you see an offer for any of the following types of jobs, run the other way.

Envelope stuffing is a common scam, although it is being seen less and less these days. These jobs are normally listed as mail service jobs, and then you are asked to pay for a start up kit. After you receive a start up kit, you are given instructions to place your own work at home ads. You basically just sell the start up kit to other people and become a scammer.

Craft assembly scams can take many forms. Typically, you receive a set of crafts to complete with instructions. You generally pay for the set and then are told you will be reimbursed for the kits and also paid for their assembly. After working hard at assembling the kits and returning them, you will be told that your work is not up to their quality standards. You will be out the cost of the kits, and they will sell your crafts anyway.

There are legitimate jobs out there for Wahms, but you have to do some research on the opportunities first. If you do your research and are careful, you can successfully work from home and never be scammed.

There are so many things involved with building wealth that it would take much more than one article to explain it all. So, we've put together a simple five-step guide to help you get a great start in building wealth for a lifetime.

Step 1: Set Specific Goals

Goal setting is a task that can be easily put off - especially when you are extremely busy in day-to-day activities. However, goal setting is the first and one of the most important steps you'll take to achieve wealth. Set both short-term and long-term goals. Short-term goals may be daily, weekly and monthly goals. These should reveal where you would like to be financially by a certain time in the near future.

Long-term goals include the amount of wealth you would like to accumulate within a year, two years, or maybe even five or ten years. Both types of goals are necessary to build wealth. Without goals, you are wondering blindly with no care or thought of what's ahead. This pattern of life is sure to leave you empty-handed!

Step 2: Create a Business Plan

Every successful business from the past and today started with a plan. Your business plan should illustrate where you are now, where you plan to be in the future, and how you're going to get there. Write these few notes down on paper. Then, fill in the blanks to create a rough business plan. It's easier than you think.

*Your current income
*Business profits and expenses (if you already own a business)
*Business budget (or personal budget if working for someone else)
*Capital needed upfront to promote and operate business
*Plans to acquire the capital needed (source of capital)
*Spending plan (promotions, supplies, inventory, online expenses, etc.)
*Expectations (What results do you expect from your initial efforts?)

Creating a business plan is a necessary step to build wealth through your own business. Even if you don't own a business, you should write down a similar plan to reach your personal wealth goals.

Step 3: Avoid Harmful Debt

Debt is the one of the key reasons many people never accumulate wealth. But remember, there are two types of debt: harmful debt and necessary debt. Harmful debt is the debt you create for things you do not need such as excessive shopping, luxury items, expensive cars that you can't afford, etc. Necessary debt is a debt most people must have to live, such as a mortgage, car loan (affordable), medical, college, etc. These debts are a part of life for most families and will be for many, many years. However, even these types of debts should be kept well within your income limitations. If you can only afford a $250/month car loan, then shop around until you find one at this price. Don't give in to the temptations and pressures to buy the fancier, more expensive car with a $450/month payment. It's not worth the risk!

You may ask, "I thought these steps were for building wealth?"

As it happens, debt is the opposite of wealth.  The more debt you have, the less wealth you will accumulate. You can't save money or invest money that belongs to someone else. If you earn $3,000 in income this month, but owe $2,000 in loans (before everyday living expenses), you can't possibly have extra money to save. You must either earn more or sell some items to pay off your debt. You should avoid this "debt trap" if you intend on building wealth for the future.

Another type of debt is one for your business. You may take out a small business loan to get things started or to promote your business. If you are uncertain about whether the business will bring profits, try to avoid business debt until you have tested it a while.

Step 4: Develop a Personal Plan

Above, you developed a business plan. Now it's time to create a personal plan. What tasks will you do daily to build wealth? Put yourself on a schedule and a strict budget. Work toward your goals daily by making a list of things to do and marking off each item on the list as you complete the tasks. In your budgeting, include a set amount of money you will put away in savings (savings account, IRA, stocks, bonds, etc.) If you plan to invest, be sure to diversify your investments. Choose only one or two high-risk investments and several "safer" investments such as mutual funds or bonds.

Step 5: Stay focused on the Goal, not the Circumstances

No matter what circumstances you find yourself in, keep your eyes on the wealth-building goal ahead. Even if sales are down in your business, don't stop dead in your tracks. Remember, businesses have ups and downs. If you remain steadfast toward your goal during the slow times, the busy times are bound to be much better than ever. Your income will grow and you will have the extra money needed to reach your wealth-building goals.

In a nutshell, building wealth does not happen over night with one get-rich-quick program. It happens with consistent labor toward the goals and tasks you have created. You can build wealth for your future if you do not waver from these basic truths that have worked for millions of others!

Drop shipping products that you can buy wholesale for a fair profit is a win win type of internet business model. Manufacturers of these products are essentially hiring you to promote and distribute their products in any number of venues. Some sell through wholesale stores online or offline even, others use online auctions and their huge customer base but they underlying benefits include not keeping inventory, allowing the manufacturer or wholesaler to stock, package and deliver timely to customers of yours sometimes worldwide.

Buying Wholesale and drop shipping products direct to your customers is the way to run an online business. Instead some still buy bulk or in volume purchases and store an inventory hoping it will sell before the market changes. Of course pricing may be better but you run the risk of being stuck with product that wont sell too plus you must continue to pack and ship with returns possible too.

Since there are literally millions of products that can be bought or ordered wholesale and sold using drop shipping, you would be wise to sell what people are searching for. Whether or not you sell on auctions, using information available about what sells well on eBay is a great indication of what online shoppers want, so use it. Rather than trying to sell everything to everybody, just focus on some profitable items that are selling well.

Before you walk away from your job to work full-time from home, one of the most critical pieces of information you need to know is how financially stable you are and how long you will be able to survive without a weekly pay check. Here are 5 easy steps to help you plan wisely.

It doesn't have to be unpleasant or messy, but it does have to be done. You may be well on your way to building a full-time home-based business or may just be tossing the idea around right now, but having a clear understanding of your current and future financial commitments will play a MAJOR role in your strategic plan for business success.

Home-based business owners don't normally wake up one day and say, "Yep. I'm quitting my job today and starting a home-based business."  There is usually a period of time for contemplation, exploration, making the decision, creating a plan, and then starting to execute steps within the plan to achieve the final goal.

The process can take anywhere from several months to several years before an employee is in a position to walk away from her job to begin life as a full-time entrepreneur.

Being financially responsible is critical to not only home-based business success, but to create the financial cushion required to transition from being an employee to a full-time entrepreneur.

Understanding your current financial position is mandatory and doesn't have to take more than an hour of your time if you follow the five basic steps below.

1.  Calculate how much money you currently have sitting in bank accounts, investments, registered retirement savings plans, GIC's, real estate, etc.  If you were to leave your job today, would there be any form of payout (ie. sick plan credit, pension plan contributions, unused holidays, anniversary pay, etc.)?

2.  Determine how much you earn on a monthly basis either through employment, child support payments, rental properties, dividends, your existing home-based business, etc. 

3.  Record your monthly household expenses.  Some examples to get you started are:

-  mortgage/rent
-  property tax/house and mortgage insurance
-  utilities (heat/water/hydro)
-  phone/cable/satellite/Internet
-  yard maintenance/snow removal
-  groceries and household supplies
-  vehicle fuel, insurance and maintenance costs
-  medical
-  child care
-  personal care (hair/nails/clothing)
-  entertainment (movies/sports/books/plays)
-  club memberships, publications, etc.

4.  List your monthly business expenses, for example:

-  Internet
-  phone (separate business line)
-  autoresponder
-  shopping cart
-  long distance
-  bank fees
-  office supplies
-  tools
-  web hosting
-  marketing
-  advertising
-  part-time help
-  coaching services
-  shipping/postage, etc.

5.  Identify your outstanding liabilities such as:

-  credit card balances
-  personal loans
-  lines of credit, etc.

When you calculate your earnings and revenue on an annual basis and deduct your personal and business expenses. How much do you have remaining at the end of the year?  Can a portion of this be put aside to build your financial cushion?

If your current business revenue isn't enough to cover your business and personal expenses and if you were to quit work today, how long would you be able to survive on your other revenue sources or savings and assets, taking into account your monthly expenses? 

Have you considered all unexpected expenditures that could arise in the next year or two? 

Is your car running on its last two cylinders?
Has your furnace almost reached its life expectancy?
Is your vacuum cleaner starting to growl at you?
Is your partner's job secure or do you foresee unstable times ahead?

This exercise is by no means intended to scare or discourage.  Financial stability is an area that needs to be addressed so you can keep your feet firmly planted and plans realistic as you build your home-based business.

Understanding where you are and what potentially lies ahead will help you make sound financial decisions as you plan your future.

After completing these five steps, you may realize your dream to break free of your job might take a year longer than expected, or you may learn that in order to move forward at a quicker pace, you may have to bring in a partner or investor, or learn to leverage your time, money and effort more efficiently to expedite progress.
